Welcome to the grading & discussion thread for Lost 4x04, "Eggtown". Spoilers ahead...

Kate's need to get information out of the hostage may jeopardize her standing with Locke as well as with Sawyer.

As usual, I feel it is my duty to let out a rather major plot point of this episode.

Kate digs up the bones of the sheriff dude to make soup for the Losties. Hilarity ensues.

Above Average.

The way Kate got off seemed a bit weak (can someone actually get off that easily?), but I did like the revelation we got. Something doesn't quite make sense though... She wasn't really pregnant, but the world thinks she was. When did she have time to fake a pregancy without anyone knowing?

Damnit! I figured out Aaron was going to be Kate's "son" pretty early on but I didn't want to believe it. Damnit, I hate it when I'm right.

That aside, a good episode. We finally see Kate going to trial and the result. I think it was a little too easy (but I've probably watched too much Law & Order), but c'est le vie.

Why did Miles come all the way to the Island to blackmail Ben for $3.2 million? I'm still trying to figure out that weird oddity...

That aside, not much else to say. HOWEVER. I can't wait for next week's episode. :D

Above Average.

I figured it was Aaron pretty early on too but this was one of the better Kate episodes. Sawyer's right about how she can never make up her mind though. Miles is still a pretty intriguing character and you've got to love Locke's idea for breakfast.

3/4

Flashforward: Interesting. Lot better than the past few awful Kate-backs. Most interesting that the cover story is only 8 people survived the crash on a "deserted" island. Unfortunately my fiancee guessed the Aaron twist about 30 seconds before they revealed it, thus spoiling it for me :p

Island: Why do I feel that the last two episodes have just been spinning wheels in the present day plots? People run around and scheme but nothing happens in the end. We're all just still standing around on the Island waiting for something to happen with the Freighter. All we learned is that Miles is trying to cut a side deal with Ben and that the copter didn't arrive yet; which I'm sure is either a) a lie because there was a confrontation or b) just the time lag again it hasnt arrived yet like the rocket.

My Aaron Theory: Kate doesn't STEAL Aaron, Claire gives away the baby because Kate is leaving the Island and Claire isn't. Kind of like mothers offering their babies up to the evacuating soldiers at the fall of Saigon. Either that or Claire got killed and Kate became the custodian.

Oh I just LOVE the idea that the characters are roommates in Barracks houses!!! I want to see an entire episode just based on this idea it would make for a great mini sitcom. Sawyer and Hurley living together?! Locke and Ben living together?! Hell, even Kate and Claire would be interesting since they have nothing in common. Who else is in Locke's party and how would they pair up?

I howled with laughter when Sawyer said she would find some reason to get pissed at Jack and come back to the Barracks. It's funny because it's TRUE!

I nearly shat in my pants when he did that!

Did anyone actually say she was pregnant? I know Mom wanted to see "her grandson", but she may refer to Aaron that way even knowing he's adopted.

Not to be a smartass, but it's what they (writers/producers) do. :(

If she wasn't "pregnant", where do people think she got the baby from? I'm guessing that no one knows that Claire was alive.

Why did she have to fake a pregnancy? Claire must have asked Kate to take care of Aaron because....she was dying....and right after the Other Others told Jack and Claire that they were half siblings.

I don't them taking their time but I feel that them standing around forever chatting on the phone like this is just... weird. It'd be one thing if they cut away to a different set of characters for an episode or two... why are they tap-dancing when they have shortened seasons (pre-strike).

On the other, in all seriousness I would love to see an entire episode done as a one camera sitcom with them living in their houses. Hell you could have done the exact same story with Miles and Ben just in a sitcom format; THAT would have been hilarious.

I enjoyed this episode. I was glad her mom decided not to testify against her. Jack loves her awwwwww. Jack looked pretty hot at the end of the episode.

Based on all that now I'm leaning toward it being Sawyer who died maybe? Or am I forgetting anything that would contradict that?

At the end of the episode I thought she said "Eric", didn't realize she'd said "Aaron" lol. A bit of a difference that makes!

The question now is why doesn't Jack want to see the baby?

The misdirect here is that she stole the baby.

I think it's because a) Claire is dead, b) memories of the people they left behind, or c) he knows the baby is his half-nephew.

Maybe Jack was responsible for Claire's death or he couldn't save her and now (in the future) he can't face her motherless child. Jack is big on guilt.
