Looks like Stargate is officially done

LOL...They didn't just get hacked they lost complete control of the site!
He's essentially asking for help to regain control. Sounds like SGU Sucks strikes again, to me.

They're pathetic enough, but I don't think so this time. The guy(s) doing it seems to be using it to advertise stuff.

No more pathetic than those that like a show that was canceled in less than 2 seasons. I admire SGU sucks aside because a group of fans are actually doing the opposite of what fans normally do. Which is to be insipidly over gracious to everything a franchise puts out. They're showing the people that count that they have some standards and won't just stand by while they show craps down their throat. That's an absolutely EPIC turn around for fans everywhere. They like stargate just like the rest of you do but they've drawn a line in the sand to make stargate better.

SGU Suck started because of the lack luster SGU but it was also in response to gateworld over censor ships. While I appreciate why Gateworld did this, I don't agree with dividing the fans as they've done. But I don't agree with the content on the SGU SUCKS Forum which is why I can't conscientiously be apart of the group. But there are a few there that I know like Rac 80 who pretty up standing.

So while you may think they're pathetic they're really just the other side of the same coin you're on.

P.S Hackers use advertisements as fronts. It's an annoyance factor. Its not saying that this is likely an advertiser but usually you don't make it that obvious who your attacker is.

You do know that SGU Sucks split apart a few months ago, right? All the good people apparently went over to a new site called GateFans, while SGU Sucks turned into SciFi Nexus. Apparently SciFi Nexus was slandering the founder of GateFans, who gave them free server space when they were SGU Sucks, for some stupid reason and sending threats. So I wouldn't be surprised if some SciFi Nexus fellow decided to hack the Save SGU group on his own.

You have got to be kidding. You must not have paid attention when the Star Wars prequels came out, or when the Matrix sequels came out, or when Voyager and Enterprise were on the air. There were hordes of fans bashing them. They certainly weren't lapping it up and praising their masters for such generosity. SGU Sucks hasn't done anything remotely new or novel in this area, except perhaps taking bashing of a show more seriously than one should.

No more pathetic than those that like a show that was canceled in less than 2 seasons.

I think spending hours online obsessing over a show you don't like, and writing abusive and often libellous comments about it's creators, cast and crew is slightly more pathetic than liking a show that was cancelled in less then two seasons. In fact I'm struggling to see how the latter could be considered pathetic at all.

The hate sites started for two main reasons, the first being the no-tolerance approach (which I don't agree with) that Gateworld took in an effort to avoid the same "anti" phenomena that plagued later SG-1 and Atlantis, and the second being the cancellation of Atlantis, and the resulting bitterness. In short, these sites were made because bitter Atlantis fans wanted to rage interminably about SGU and Gateworld refused to play host to it.

I don't doubt that these people genuinely don't like SGU, but the idea that their reaction is some noble effort to save the franchise as they see it is laughable. There were lots of SG-1 fans who thought Atlantis was a massive step down in quality from SG-1, but there was very little backlash. Why? Because they'd lost nothing, SG-1 was still on the air and Atlantis was just something extra. SGU on the other hand effectively replaced SGA, which is why people got as pissy as they did. Hell, many (if not most) of the usual suspects were slamming it long before we'd seen a single shot. Had Atlantis aired alongside SGU, I'm sure they'd have acted like normal people and simply ignored the show they don't like. As it happened though, they were left with nothing and a need for someone/thing to blame. A perceived lack of quality does not generate this kind of hate, but a feeling of bitterness, loss and unjustified betrayal clearly does.

None of it matters.
The only difference is the like or dislike of the direction.
You people think because there is a dislike therefore don't care and that's just an obtuse moment of thinking. These people liked Stargate just not what the producers did with it and they have every right to obsess over what has been ruined in their eyes as other have to gush.

Anything else is just a "I'm better than you" argument and it's so paper thin.

I don't know about the bitter Atlantis fan theory but I'm sure some were. How many were bitter...who knows.

If that were true though they would have called foul when SG-1 was canceled. To my knowledge there was no sizeable effort to save SG-1 like there was for SGA and SGU. That's because it was clear to the fans that it had run its course.

A perceived lack of quality does not generate this kind of hate, but a feeling of bitterness, loss and unjustified betrayal clearly does.

There is logic in that statement.
While the quality is the main factor for me I don't speak for them. They likely are rebelling in some way. But I think it's more this time...it's the extreme direction they took with SGU. It's not like the other Gate series at all and it's so obvious it's like the fans were allergic to it.

There's a fundamental difference between obsessing over something you hate and something you love, but even if we ignore that, it doesn't excuse some of their other behaviour. I don't think anyone begrudges them their opinions, but trying to get a show cancelled out of spite, and making up all manner of rumours about the creators, cast and crew (and even their families), while spamming any SGU content with hate really crosses a line. Hell, they even have threads with lists of SGU fans they don't like where they take the piss out of them and basically just abuse them like no other forum would allow. Some of the antics that have gone on there are beyond pathetic. So no, it's not the like or dislike that matters, in fact that's something that really doesn't matter. It's everything that has gone with that that makes the place an embarrassment to fandom, not the relatively trivial fact that they don't like the show. Obviously it was wrong for me to paint all of them in the same light, but the essence of what that site is (or more accurately was) was just pathetic in my opinion.

They are polar opposites. I think that is the fundamental difference.

I don't know about all that.
I spent all of one week at the forum and my problem with them wasn't about their behavior. It was the lack of censorship of any kind...and it bares some similarity to this forum with the back biting and name calling and attacks...here it's just covered up by some moderating. I think there are some good moderators here and that's saying alot but I don't agree with the profanity....So there what some allow and don't allow isn't a matter of arousing pity it's just woefully inadequate.

People as a rule are nasty and ugly
Gateworld moderated too much to fault
SGU SUCKS not enough.

And when you don't get enough moderation...you get peoples true behavior. Too much and it's rather false if not more pleasant.

No I don't want to group them all together....I "know" some of them. And even the idea isn't necessarily bad to go against SGU. The tactics of some of them is their own individual behavior. I hold them individually accountable.

Yep, that's what I thought,

I doubt that. Once again you've ignored everything to make a jibe remark. That's the 3rd time.

adds to the more than ample evidence
Declarative's without analysis is as ineffective as confidence statements. Without analysis it's like standing before a judge and giving your opening statement and ONLY your opening statement. Laying down the evidence along with your premise of speculation allows us to examine any syllogisms and facts that you maybe using to form your hypothesis or conclusion. Without them you're pretty much naked.

I've observed in making my accurate and objective conclusion.

You could have observed the Roswell Landing but with out laying down the evidence you say you saw "objectively", then it might aswell be a hoax.

It's like handing you the rope . . . and you willingly oblige!

Mr Awe

Metaphors are like songs. They help you to express yourself. They don't prove a case though.

:guffaw: Thanks!

I have to imagine that being Saquist's friend in real life must be exhausting.

"That was a good burger, eh, friend?"

"Well, objectively speaking, the meat was of poor quality and overcooked. The excessive use of condiments was clearly invoked to hide the inadequate quality. The lettuce was warm and limp, not crispy and cool, which is inarguable evidence of the cook's anti-Semitism. The placemats are overtly pornographic and add nothing to the dining experience except to titillate. Furthermore..."

Well lets see.
My friends are quality individuals. They are thinkers and reasoners. They know that I am extremely loyal and available at the drop of a hat. They also know that I'm direct, factual and objective. While they know it's hard to win an argument they also know if I'm proven wrong I'm reliable on the withdraw.

I tend to drop friends for being
a) Leeches b)stupid/dense
And that's quite few people. I usually don't seek out friends. But I notice because I'm usually quiet (observation mode) people do seek me out, which is how I prefer it. (unless female)

"That was a good burger, eh, friend?"
We usually don't do food, we do art, movies, show music. This are regular topics among us. Last thing we discussed was Green Lantern. But it didn't go very far. There was a lot of consensus. First Class was an interesting topic that there have been a variety of opinions on we have a regular on going discussion on "how useless is politics" that never seems to get old.

....hmmm.

Mr. Awe
Indeed, sir.

Why is this thread about Saquist? And why are the moderators happily joining into derailing the thread off topic?

That after having eaten the same burgers he didn't like for TWO YEARS!! Yet ordering them again and again and providing helpful reviews all along the way.

Maybe you have a future in writing for The Big Bang Theory, that sounds like something Sheldon would say.

I was rather piqued by the creativity too.
