Looking for title of Sci-Fi movie (shot "now", but 50s' style)

After seeing the trailer to Alien Trespass, it definitely is that movie. I will see if I can get my hands on it, though I am not really a fan of sci-fi movies of the 50s, except War of the Worlds (better than the current version) and some other flick I don't remember anything about.

Other classic 50's films worth checking out: FORBIDDEN PLANET, THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL, INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS, and THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING MAN.

Along with WAR OF THE WORLDS, those are the best of the era.

I'm not, but that's okay; I prefer to own stuff-- that collector mentality at work.

I second all these, especially Forbidden Planet. It's my second favorite film of all time.

I might also suggest the movie 'Destination Mars!' To quote Netflix:

Shot on digital video and processed to mimic the look of 1950s science fiction films, this ambitious modern production has all the markings of an authentic classic alien flick -- from flying saucers and Martian women to the requisite doomsday story line. For added fun, the film's producers have billed it as a "lost" film that's since been recovered and restored. Paul Hunter, Eva Ray and Frank Gurney star.

That's another film like what you're looking for... another 'retro-period' film that I might recommend if you're a fan of silent cinema is the production of 'Call of Cthulhu', done in a 1920's cinema style, and does a rather faithful job with it's source material.

I have both of those. Call Of Cthulhu is fantastic. Destination Mars is okay.

The Lovecraft Historical Society, who made COC, also has a second movie due soon. And if you're a fan of OTR, they have several CDs of audio adaptations that are also wonderful.
