Looking for good mystery tv-show

An acquaintance ask me today if I know any great mystery tv-shows where the central character has psychic abilities like in "Ghost Whisperer" or "Medium". Because these are the only shows I know in which the character has got such an ability I really couldn't give any advice. But maybe someone here can help me? Are there any similar shows out there? Or are there other mystery tv-shows you would recommend?
Thanks for the help.

There's no psychic component, but Veronica Mars has a fantastic first season. Seasons 2 and 3 are a bit watered down, with S3 being particularly hard-hit by network interference.

The Dead Zone has the psychic aspect; I only really watched it in year 1, though. I hear it got a bit random with Micheal Piller's declining health and passing.

Ghost Whisperer has a psychic line to it-don't know if its any good, though. I like Cold Case-twisted stories and great period recreation...
If you want unique-try Life. No psychics but the main character is as kooky as Monk....

Well, there's Psych on the USA channel Friday nights. Not sure if that would count as a psychic show though, but it is a lot of fun. Pair it with Monk and you've got an entertaining evening.

MAAAAAATTTTLOOCCCCKKK!!!

Knew I was forgetting one! Pushing Daisies qualifies, although arguably the mysteries are secondary to the characters in that one.

Psych is too spastic for me. I also don't like the fact that the whole basic premise of the show is the main character deceiving nearly everyone around him about how he solves the crimes.

The only other psychic central character I can think of is Johnny Smith of The Dead Zone. I'm only mid-season 2 right now, but so far it's decent. Not nearly as good as Medium, though.

Jonathon Creek

A UK series made by the BBC about a man who invents magic tricks for a living and has a rather unique way of looking at things. Every episode has a self-contained story where Creek (usually unwillingly) gets called upon to solve impossible crimes, like murders or missing items that have no fathomable explanation (sometimes called "locked room" mysteries)
For the first three series he is accompanied by a journalist called Maddy Magellen (Caroline Quentin) while for the fourth series he is teamed up with a pushy showbiz agent called Carla Borrago (Julia Sawalha)

It ran for 4 series and 2 Christmas specials with another special that aired on New Year's day just gone

It was a mix of drama with bits of comedy here and there but some of the mysteries tended to be quite dark and slightly macabre.

While the main character might not have psychic powers it's always fun watching the episodes and trying to figure out for yourself how the crime was committed.

I think the show's tagline when it first came out was "It's not who, it's how"

^ I second that. Jonathan Creek is probably one the best mystery shows I have ever seen.

The lead character is delightfully ordinary in appearance; it's like watching a human version of Paddington Bear. There's no Hollywood "cookie-cutter" casting here. These people could be your neighbors or friends. The characters are complex and flawed, and a joy to watch. The writing is witty and full of dry humor "I need to find a mirror and remind myself what a stupid git looks like"). Some of the puzzles that are presented are REAL headscratchers. "The Scented Room" is one of my favorites.

Rent or buy the DVDs; you won't be sorry.
