Looking for advice for introducing my GF to Star Trek

If she's never seen Star Trek before introduce her to it by having it on when she comes to your place. Talk to her, pretty much ignoring the TV, and then begin watching it and talking about what you see...but don't go hardcore.

That is how I got my husband hooked

I started with "Encounter at Farpoint" in 1987. :)
Hell yeah! Me too. A lot of the young whippersnappers here were barely born by then. I was a robust 7 at the time, but watched nonetheless as I liked watching Trek with my folks.

I started with TNG there too... I was around four at the time.

Then again, I had already seen all of TOS multiple times from the daily rerun on the local channel five back before it became Fox. I got into trek very early.

9 - phhhhhfffft

I would start with BOBW 1+2 and ST:8 First Contact. The big flashy, dramatic ST moments are easily the best and those ive suggested have plenty of um. There both quite dark chapters of TNG so u have to take them seriously, they're the least 'geeky' in my oppinion, and that is what scares girls away from ST in the first place. My GF is the same, she teases me about liking it too.

A Star Trek fan with a girlfriend? He's making it up.

Seriously though, I think a more action-based one would work better as an introduction than a talky one. Maybe Q Who, then BOBW, then Family. Cause and Effect is good. Then Paralels. Then Time's Arrow. Schisms. Maybe Who Watches the Watchers. All Good Things.

Though if I were tasked with introducing someone to Trek for the first time, I'd go with DS9 Defiant/Improbable Cause/The Die is Cast. Or maybe TUC.
