Lookin' forward to THE TRAILER!!!

Hmm, naked flower hippies of the future vs. Starships.

Now, if it was naked flower hippies of the future being brutally slaughtered by Romulan soldiers armed with chainsaws, it would be easier to vote.

Unless there is a hippie chainsaw slaughter, I'll have to go with Starships.

Stow Lake sound about right? Strawberry Hill populated with alien nymphs of all descriptions?

I gather you have never read the two In Thy Image teleplays - one by Harold Livingston and the other by Gene Roddenberry - that served as the basis for TMP? San Francisco Island, presumably formed by the collapse of the sandy, unconsolidated Colma Formation during a massive future earthquake...
I'm afraid I have not read them. It looks as though two of the three places I lived in that area would have been "voted off the island," one of them just about where the pointer indicating San Francisco Island approaches dry land.

...has evolved into an idyllic, sensual, Neo-Athenian paradise of public nudity, playful wild animals and free fruit (well, it was until Michael Eisner demanded a G-rating for the film). The actual above ground components of the Soleri-esque "Subterra City" sit along the northern edge of the former peninsula and do not appear to extend south of what is now Nob Hill or west of today's Presidio Heights, thus leaving the vast majority of the island's land area restored to the native California Redwoods and other species of local flora and fauna. I daresay that under such circumstances Golden Gate Park would find itself somewhat redundant. :p
Redundant indeed -- I stand corrected.

Sounds like a lot of fun, though. :techman:

Good evening, Trekkers, Trekkies, Treknecks, and Conversationalists all across the fruited plain!:techman:

Okay--word on the street (read: TrekMovie.com) is: there will be a full, authentic trailer for J.J.'s movie--NEXT MONTH!!!

Sooooooooo... what are ya most lookin' forward to see in it?

Personally, I want a good glimpse of THE BRIDGE!
I am looking forward to the fact that the movie company logo will play for 30 full seconds, then the screen will go black followed by a narrator. Scenes from the movie will be 3 seconds in length and will cut in/out so fast that it will be impossible to digest. The full amount of time dedicated to scenes from the movie will be 15 seconds, followed by a dramatic closing in which the title and premiere date will show for a full 15 seconds.

Total trailer time -> 1 minute.

I about choked on my rum on that one, friend.

Romulans... armed with chainsaws... murdering naked hippies! :guffaw:

I want the trailer to look like any fast-paced trailer for any current up coming action movie. I know I will be there. I want non-fans to be drawn in to make it a big numbers movie so there will be more Trek (big or little screen). The trailer, in my opinion should be for the un-Trekkies (un-Trekkers), not for us.

Looking forward to the following:

Pine's take on Kirk.

The uniforms.

The ship (exterior and interior).

Nimoy.

Once the first trailer released, Paramount will have to continue with the marketing, or it will lose the goal, so I believe that after the trailer, we will have more photos and interviews warming slowly until May.

The trailer needs to show the doors on the Enterprise opening and closing, and we need to also hear the sound of the swooshing that they make.

But I'll settle for Romulans with chainsaws. :D

I expect a good trailer for the best movie (hopefully!!!) of 2009! May needs to get here now!

I admire your enthusiasm and hopefulness, but when has any Star Trek movie ever been the best movie of any year? I mean, II and IV come closest to that mark, but there were still (arguably) much better movies released in '82 and '86. I think if you asked Nick Meyer, Harve Bennet or Leonard Nimoy, they would probably concede that point. I think there is a very, very small chance that Star Trek (2009) will be on any (published) critic's best 10 list or be up for any competitive, above-the-line industry awards (writing, directing, acting, etc.). Pick whichever subjective measure of "best" you like.

I mean, let's be honest here... we all love Star Trek, but in the world of cinema, while certainly not at the bottom of the heap, these Trek feature films will never be considered with the very best movies of all time (or of any particular year). These are ultimately "B" movies with an overly-enthusiastic fan base. Me included.

:)

They definitely need to dig up Don LaFontaine to voice it.

"In a world...bigger than the world...where other worlds whirled...only one man and his starship could make THE IMPOSSIBLE happen...."

I want this trailer to start with a close-up of a quarryman working a large piece of granite, then cut to scenes showing masons building the Enterprise using stone post-and-lintel construction techniques.

That's great! But it better all be done in orbit is all I've gotta say!

I want to see a close-up of someone with a shovel digging up a grave. Zooming in, we discover that it is the grave of Gene Roddenberry. The shadowy figure picks up the body of Roddenberry and physically rolls it over and over. The camera pans up to identify the shadowy stranger as J.J. Abrams, who is now laughing maniacally. One of the statues in the cemetary transforms into Orci. The shovel (with flames painted on the side of it) transforms into Kurtzman. They high-five each other. A caption at the bottom of the screen reads: "IF THIS DOESN'T WORK OUT, PLEASE WATCH 'FRINGE', TUESDAY NIGHTS AT 9."
