Location Shooting Reveals Some Of The TARDIS Interior

You're right. I was expecting something far more removed from the coral theme.

I like.

yes it looks like the new TARDIS has some elements in common with the RTDs TARDIS, im not against this, I always liked that TARDIS, in some way it could be a very similar design, its just the Doctor is using the space better.

Love it. I've always liked the coral theme, and I like that they seem to be keeping the "one set of doors" rule. I wasn't looking forward to the TARDIS going back to looking like it wasn't a form of biological technology.

I am glad to see that Moff is not just recreating Classic Who (TM) and is still pushing some of the aesthetic forward.

But, before we all jump to conclusions, are we sure this is the new Tardis interior, or possibly some last glimpses of 9/10's Tardis before it burns? That shot is pretty poor. For all we know 11 is about to change the desktop theme...

Here's what says under the photo.

One can glean a little of what the new TARDIS interior will look like through these shots taken on location while shooting at the Llanwonno Church today (21 October 2009) for upcoming Doctor Who story starring Matt Smith. The photos taken by "Scootyboy" are available on his Photobucket page here (slight spoiler warnings).

So as long as that's true I'd say it is the new console room.

I like the idea of there being an upper level (at least that looks like a staircase to me). While I agree they probably shouldn't go back to the old-style TARDIS interior I do hope The Moff will let us see a bit more of TARDIS's supposedly infinite interior. Except for the cloak room and a few vague references to bins and corridors, the RTD-era TARDIS came across as not much more than a single room with a storage compartment underneath.

Only one exit door, yes, but I hope the new design shows us a door leading further into the ship. Even if it's rarely used, just having it there helps give the TARDIS more scale.

Alex

I had a feeling it wouldn't change much from a budget stand point.

Maybe turn the coral to white/silver and ofcourse a new control console but that would have been it

Well I'm underwhelmed. I had hoped it was going to be a big departure. And white.

This looks like a slightly loopy version of the RTD one..

cool :)
Can I ask - does DW tend to use in-universe explanations for the changing look of the TARDIS? or is it just ones of those things that we're not meant to notice. :D

I like it. This is the first design choice of the Moffet era that I've felt that way about.

it was first explained in "Time Crash". The Fifth complained the Tenth had 'changed the desktop theme'.

Actually, I always figured after "Time Crash" that the TARDIS interior was the size of Belgium.

I dunno. Part of me still thinks it's the old TARDIS.

We'll just have to wait and see I guess, but I was hoping we'd seen the end of the silly coral nonsense.

Looks like one "retro" influence has crept into the new design, the big light-thing that hung over the console in some of the very early episodes seems to be back.

Apart from that it does seem to just be an eveloution of the current design rather than a revolution.

I was just about to say the same thing. From what I can just see there, it looks to be more of a natual evolution of the current interior.

I'm liking this new series more and more.
