Local Residents Meeting and White People Problems

The President says, paraphrased, that race relations in the US are better now than they've ever been.

So, what are "white people problems"?

The loaner from the Bentley dealer isn't as nice as the one left for service? The pool boy left a leaf floating in the hot tub? New homeowners moving into the gated community without a full vetting by the HOA? Saggy pants on the golf course?

Where I grew up, people were people. White, black, brown, yellow, all lived together and were neighbors. Friends. People knew each other and looked after all the neighborhood kids together, as a community.

There's way too much separatism going on these days.

That's my social commentary for the month. :)

... and White People Problems
Could Trekker4747 directly address what was meant by this?

:)

It's when your life is so amazing, that you make shit up to be upset about. Generally, these problems tend to be ones that only affect white people, since generally in the rest of the world people with real problems tend to not be white.

Sometimes in a broader sense the term is used as "First World Problems."

There's people out there in the world starving, suffering from horrible disease, living in nightmare conditions and these people are upset over a damn train horn because they bought an expensive home near a set of train tracks.

There's a couple other labels for people who do that, but I'm not gonna say 'em. No way.

If that's so true, what are you doing here starting threads about other people's problems?

Green people problems. :p:p

Ah, so that's what that is. :shifty:

And if there's a way to change those crossings to a "no horn crossing" that hurts no one and improves the real or perceived quality of life for the people in that neighborhood, who cares?

+1

Not sure what the OP is fussing about. Perfectly legal, perfectly valid reason to meet. I hope they are able to get some peace and quiet.

Indeed.

Train horns can be loud and obnoxious, and if they're not necessary at particular intersections, why not see if there's something you can do about it?

This is literally the reason that towns have meetings.

This reminds me of a similar situation in Concord, North Carolina. Charlotte Motor Speedway has been in the same location since 1959. Many, many years later, people and construction companies began building homes nearby.

Not long ago, those people who knowingly purchased homes near a noisy motor speedway built away from the city, petitioned to have the speedway moved or shut down to reduce the noise. They were claiming it brought down their property values.

Perhaps, they should not have built nor bought homes near a raceway!

The raceway post above? Identical situation in Sydney. People complaining about noise from Luna Park, which has been there, oh, I dunno, 80 years? The condos they lived in? Oooh, 30, tops.

Don't like the noise? Done live there!
