It was a different time. 
I'm not sure that particular slang existed yet, at least not to be widely known in mixed company. Okay, it probably existed.
On Collector's Call (a MeTV reality show) two weeks ago, some comic book nerds were talking about the debut of Spider-Man in Amazing Fantasy #15. And they were casually referring to it as "A F 15." Host Lisa Welchel joked, "Everybody knows what A F 15 is. It's famous A F!"
Given the age of the audience, I'm sure that went over a lot of heads.
Back to "Mudd's Women," it always annoyed me that Spock was in his right mind, but he chose not to answer Kirk on the intercom.

That was no accident.
We know "equipment" was slang for anatomy at the time, because there's a reference to Yeoman Rand in The Making of Star Trek.
