Live Action King Kong Series in Development for Disney+

They've announced that there is a live action King Kong series in development for Disney+, the article doesn't address it, but I'm assuming since this is on Disney+ and not HBOMax, that this will not be part of the Legendary MonsterVerse. It's supposed to be a new origin story for Kong.
I have to admit, I would be more excited for this if it was part of the MonsterVerse, but I am still curious about it.

Well, that's kind out of nowhere. If they were going to go with a big ape movie almost would think they'd go with Mighty Joe Young given the last movie was a Buena Vista picture.

A King Kong TV show based on the work of Joe DeVito has been in development for over five years now. But it's only now that it has found a home with Disney+.
