ST "Where No Man Has Gone Before," "The Man Trap" and "Charlie X" Good characters and stories despite the silliness in the second.
Edit: Surprised Uhura referred to Spock having "Satan's guise" back then.

Good episodes, one and all. At that point in 1966 the producers and the network were still having fun at Spock's expense and making reference to his "Satanic" appearance, something hinted at even in NBC promotional materials printed and distributed at the time of the show's premiere.

It's an early growth pang of the series more than anything else, I suppose. In hindsight it doesn't sound flattering considering that canonically humans have known Vulcans for a smidge over 200 years at that point so their appearance shouldn't be so controversial or poke-worthy, but 1966 America wasn't used to a lead television character looking like that.

I would think it would be controversial to say it at all at the time, let alone as a joke from a good character to another.

Now,
ST "The Naked Time," "The Enemy Within" (both OK) and "Mudd's Women" (disappointing), all felt a bit too stretched-out.
