Fatti non foste a viver come bruti,
ma per seguir virtute e canoscenza

Ye were not form’d to live the life of brutes,
But virtue to pursue and knowledge high.

I've often wondered about looking for the paths of focal lines that might allow for an image of our system to stand out from afar.

One thing that makes me scratch my head just a tad is how there is a warm spot for higher energy particles "in the direction of the constellation Ursa Major:"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oh-My-God_particle

There also seem to be planets nearby: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/47_Ursae_Majoris

Heck of a way to say hello?

That system has some impressive names "Chalawan" for the star and Taphao Thong and Taphao Kaew for the planets.

"Simulations suggest that the inner part of the habitable zone of 47 Ursae Majoris could host a terrestrial planet in a stable orbit"

https://www.universetoday.com/108768/how-much-stuff-is-in-a-light-year/
on average, across the Milky Way, there’s about 40% the mass of the Sun in every cubic light year.

The findings provided the first examples in plants of a phenomenon known as "replicated radiation," in which similar forms evolve repeatedly within different regions, suggesting that evolution is not always such a random process but can be predicted.

We won't do anything like this as long as we don't place a proper value on spaceflight (that is to say, a proper value on the universe). This is the source of my major beef with "cheap" commercial space. It marks a new stage in a worrying trend that began with Space Shuttle. We need to stop trying to convince people we can do worthwhile things in space for cheap. Instead, we need to sell them on the idea that space is worth a lot more than they think it is worth.

If the NASA Space Launch System is available to conduct human visits to suitable NEOs, the sail could serve at least two functions. Because the SLS has 2-3X the throw mass of the Falcon-Heavy, the sail could be accommodated as a pre-rendezvous abort option or as a back-up to the SLS propulsion module for Earth-return maneuvers.

Did you know there's a real UESPA?
It's called UNOOSA.
United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs has been around since the 1950's but it has never had a mission, or much of anything else until recently, when it announced plans to launch a package of experimental payloads for member countries aboard a Dreamchaser shuttle sometime in 2021. The Dream Chaser is a lifting-body vehicle being designed in part for a contract warded for it to supply cargo to the International Space Station. It was initially designed to also transfer crew. Dream Chaser is owned by the Sierra Nevada Corporation.

The "starship" ;)
https://forum.nasaspaceflight.com/index.php?topic=46795.msg1879619#msg1879619

Real starships:
https://arxiv.org/abs/1806.03856
https://www.universetoday.com/14140...-500-alive-for-the-journey-to-another-star-1/

These values also provide some architectural constraints for the minimum size of the generation ship itself. Assuming the ship were designed to generate artificial gravity by centripetal force (i.e. a rotating cylinder) the would need be a minimum of about 224 meters (735 feet) in radius and 320 meters (1050 feet) in length.

Looks like folks are still trying to make the flying saucer work.

Moller first had a saucer (before the skycar). We know the avrocar, pye wacket--or the Russian EKIP, disk shaped airships

A breakthrough?

The new material enables a hypersonic aircraft to fly at Mach 5-20 within the atmosphere for several hours, as the high heat resulting from the friction between the aircraft and the air reaches between 2,000 C to 3,000 C, a temperature normal metal would not be able to endure.

I wonder if this material could be tankage--wet to dry insert--have rocket shorten in flight--transmit a force like a gear?
