"We are gather here to commemorate the forging of an alliance. A Federation, if you will. This act of interplanetary union has not come without great cost. We remember with sorrow the sacrifice made by the valiant crew of the NX-01. I feel certain that the pioneering spirit of their Enterprise will live on through this historic endeavour."
Even though it's my favourite cast, I'd have no objection to their exit being handled like that. Enterprise was about history being made and from the perspective of an audience grown fat on a diet of 24th Century shows, Archer and co were all long dead anyhow. So why not have them go out in a blaze of glory? Something that secures them that place in the history books or has their names carved in stone. For an event which future generations are beholden to them for? That would've made the series finale a talking point for all the right reasons... rather than the frankly trivial event Riker recreated. Imagine going back to that fateful night Abraham Lincoln went to see a show and then pay more attention to the performance onstage.gblews said: You wanted the crew killed?
