Like TOS

I like the buddy moments between Kirk and Spock and Archer and T'Pol.The best thing about season 4's attempts to return to TOS was the noises in the Mirror ep and the Reed and Sovall goatees. In all seriousness the Vulcan arc captured the feel of TOS to me. We had a Captain risking all for his alien first officer on an alien world.

Actually it only includes Kirk:

You and I in a little toy shop
Buy a bag of balloons with the money we've got.
Set them free at the break of dawn
'Til one by one, they were gone.
Back at base, bugs in the software
Flash the message, Something's out there.
Floating in the summer sky.
99 red balloons go by.

99 red balloons.
floating in the summer sky.
Panic bells, it's red alert.
There's something here from somewhere else.
The war machine springs to life.
Opens up one eager eye.
Focusing it on the sky.
Where 99 red balloons go by.

99 Decision Street.
99 ministers meet.
To worry, worry, super-scurry.
Call the troops out in a hurry.
This is what we've waited for.
This is it boys, this is war.
The president is on the line
As 99 red balloons go by.

99 Knights of the air
Ride super-high-tech jet fighters
Everyone's a superhero.
Everyone's a Captain Kirk.
With orders to identify.
To clarify and classify.
Scramble in the summer sky.
As 99 red balloons go by.

99 dreams I have had.
In every one a red balloon.
It's all over and I'm standing pretty.
In this dust that was a city.
If I could find a souvenier.
Just to prove the world was here.
And here is a red balloon
I think of you and let it go.

I feel like you should win the "Oh Mickey you're so fine" golden astronaut/flag on moon MTV award for your 80s knowledge.

Has there *ever* been a song about McCoy? At least Spock has been revered.

Revered is great. So is remembered, liked, quoted, admired, etc.

I had a T-shirt for a very long time (until I wore it out) that got a better response than any other. It read simply: "He's dead, Jim!"

I love McCoy. TOS would not be TOS without him.

Dr.McCoys is one of my favorite characters the Tos series wouldn't be the same without him. He's part of the big three team the human element. He plays an important part in the series.

"Damn it, Jim. I'm a Doctor, not a songwriter."

However that plasticine McCoy did have his own verse in "Star Trekin'":

"It's worse than that, he's dead Jim! Dead, Jim. Dead, Jim."

Repeat twice (last time without Jim). ;)

Sorry that I can't add anything more constructive. ENT did blantly borrow from the TOS trinity and was pretty successful at it all things considering. For a space age show, down to earth characterization was the correct approach for a prequel. Too bad that translated as dull to those overly critical.

Well of course it doesn't work - we want to be kirk, we want his warmth, his humour. We want archer to get out of the way so we can look at that broad's rack.
