"Life on Mars" has been canceled.

^Cockney? In Manchester? Get real, will you, please?
Thanks God that monstrosity is finally over! Long live John Simm and Philip Glenister!
I know. I actually find that offensive. "Fookin yanks" as some Madchester folk would say
Please don't take offense. I'm obviously unfamiliar with the different types of dialects and accents used in your country, as I've never been there.

I've never been to the US, but I sure as fuck could tell the difference between Alabama and New York accents.

According to a Californian in-law of mine though you guys really don't have as much regional variation in accents as we do. Over here, you can literally drive 10 miles and encounter a completely different sounding people from where you started.

You're assuming Americans give a shit about such things. ;)

Still, anyone who doesn't have one (and really, what are you waiting for??)
I'm waiting for them to be given away free. :D

Seriously, I've never understood why people jump thru hoops for a stupid TV show. That would have to be one hell of a TV show. Dexter or Lost, maybe, but for most? Pfft. They can serve themselves up to me on a silver platter. I can't be bothered to make an effort, not with a dozen other perfectly good shows clamoring for my attention at any given time.

Where did you get that idea?
Well that depends, are we assuming they care whether you think they're from Alabama when they're from New York, cos then, yeah, I think they probably do. If we're assume they care whether they get the correct accent when referring to, well, anywhere else the world, then in general, not a jot.

I find it crass and boring to make blanket assertions about Americans (having "no sense of irony" or all being "fat and obnoxious" and other associated nonsense), but then many of them are quite happy to do it for me.

You know the USA will have gone too far and it's time to boycott them when they remake Law & Order: UK into a American show.

I hear they're already making a live action version of COURT ORDER BUSHIDO 2217, the anime.

Is it out on DVD yet? Is Life on Mars even out on DVD yet? Because I don't see it anywhere.

I understand the sentiment, of course, but damn...they could make it easier for us to watch the damned thing.

I have no idea if it's out on DVD. Doubtful. I suppose you could order an import.

Guess this kind of kills all hope for a US Ashes to Ashes...

Here's a crazy idea: watch the British version.

Sounds insane, I know, but it's really easy to do. They even speak the same language and everything!

I don't get BBC America.

Neither do I.

Frankly, if they don't make it available, then it's their fault they lose the revenue they would have gotten from people obtaining these things through normal channels.

US LoM is on here in Oz now. I dunno. I't sticking really close to the original UK scripts, so for me it's been there done that. Yeah, it had possibilities and could have run 2-3 years once they found their own feet, but it isn't happening early in the piece, at least for me. And sorry to say, Harvey Keitel is a good actor, but he isn't Gene Hunt.

I think a US AtA could be fun, with the right female lead.

IMO Ashes to Ashes, whilst fun, is inferior in most areas to the UK LoM. Given that, and the general creative failure that was the US version of LoM I really don't see a US Ashes to Ashes being a better show.
