Life Lessons from Star Trek: Voyager

Voyager taught me not to worry too much... no matter how bad the crisis, it will be resolved and all will be well again in 45 minutes. (Well, if we're really unlucky it's a two-parter in which case it will take double that amount of time).

*Insert quip about Voyager's messy writing here*

But in all seriousness I think the lesson I learned is that, no matter how terrible things seem or how hopeless your situation feels. Is that things will be okay. It will get better.

You will always have that really, really irritating person in your circle of friends, until one day when he finally decides to go off and join a colony of people from his home planet.

The lesson I learned is:

"Whatever you do, never become addicted to a certain show and most of all never become addicted to a certain character because someone will screw up the whole thing sooner or later and you will be terrible dissapointed.

Always be on your guard, don't trust anyone and anything".

Also, make sure every ship’s holodeck has an incompatible power source with the rest of the ship so you have an excuse not to shut it down when the rest of the shop is crumbling apart.

Unless you're Joe Carey. In which case your lesson is that you will alternately be shit upon and forgotten about for seven years and then you'll die a month short of salvation. (And no one will even care.)

If Flotter gets vaporized in a massive fire, you just need to cool down the forest, and he may re-condense.

Death is surprisingly easy to undo, but maybe give your crewmates a few days off to recover emotionally.
