Lie to Me

^ Yeah, I'm concerned that they'll run out of real-life footage to use.

I highly doubt it. Clinton and Bush alone give them an endless supply.
;)

I've watched both the pilot and the second episode of this series now (the pilot on Fox's website the second episode on its reairing last night) really good series, I quite like it. :)

Finally caught up the DVR and---

Damned if I don't hate to give money to Rupert Murdoch. But any show that can talk about false positives in testing procedures just has to be watched. It will be interesting to see how they tackle confabulation. Or primary process lying. Or psychopathy.

I've read a quote from Paul Ekman, the scientist whose work is the main inspiration for the Roth characters, that he wouldn't tell people who didn't ask. But Cal Lightman is very much in the new breed of asshole heroes a la House et al. No sight of Tim Guinee this episode. I hope they go light on all the continuing character stories (aka soap,) though.

Seems to me though in the two episodes that've aired revealing the "truth" of the case involved setting up a lie.

(In the pilot it was lying to the student that her classmate had killed himself in the most recent episode it was in having the AWOL lady drugged so she gave "false positives" on her lie detector making it easier to "out" the asshole guy.)

All new episode of Lie to Me tonight at 9/8 central on FOX.

'A Perfect Score'
The Lightman Group investigates when the daughter of a federal judge is murdered; a NASA test pilot is accused of crashing a $250 million aircraft on purpose.

And my DVR is fixed, so I'm all set for Life, too.

Did I miss something? How could Danielle have scored 94% on the test if she was murdered the day before the test?

This is a really good show, I've been really enjoying it. But the main character just reminds me too much of them trying to do a "softer" house. He even has a similar dress-style to House's. (Well, with the addition of an iron.)

I wonder what would happen if Lightman and House met.

Anyway, I saw last night's episode with the wedding and as I was watching, I thought... I wonder if this show will ever use footage of Obama. Five minutes later there he was giving the "unconscious finger" to McCain.

I loved the rest of the episode too. It was nice to see Lightman uncover all sorts of other stuff while solving the main crime. It was nice to see Amanda Schull back in the business as well.

;)

I like the show's use of video footage of real people doing the "tells" of lying, and such.

I saw it as well. I couldn't help but think
that they could have saved themselves some trouble and a whole lot of time by just checking the people for gun powder residue.

Lie to Me moves to a new time slot tonight, and will be airin' at 8/7 central on FOX!

From USA TODAY -

Fox's Lie to Me (8 ET/PT) moves into is new, earlier time slot tonight with an episode that, like the show itself, is entertaining without being completely satisfying. Stars Tim Roth and Kelli Williams are excellent, as usual, and it's nice to see Williams in a role that always her to loosen up a bit after her Practice days. The two cases - one involving a missing child, the other an author suspected of fabrication - are interesting, although after taking a few good turns, the child's story takes one turn too many.

And yet the show doesn't quite work, in part because its spot-the-liar gimmick is overplayed, open to manipulation and ultimately stifling. The Mentalist asks us to believe only its hero is that amazingly observant; Lie moves closer to omniscience, and that's a bridge too far. And speaking of going too far, it's way past time that the producers stop using pictures of former presidents Clinton and Bush to illustrate their points. It's cheap, easy and offensive.

I'll have the DVR set, since I may not be home by seven...anyone else still watchin'?

That reporter's way too easily offended.

I like the show, although I'm not thrilled with the Scooby endings where the liar confesses everything instead of asking for his lawyer.

And has poor syntax:

I think he means "allows" her to loose up a bit.

..

But I like the use of the President pictures on the bumpers and it should be pointed out they've used current president Obama, other celebrities and other former Presidents, like Nixon.
