Let's Use the Standardized Abbreviations

I think my preferred method will be "S1E05" for example. Any TRUE fan would not need title abbreviations. :borg:

That's actually more confusing because traditionally TOS fans numbered the episodes in production order, but airdate order has taken prominence in the digital age. Furthering the confusion, some airdate-following sources place "The Cage" as episode 1, even though it never aired as an actual episode of the series.

The list as printed and shown in the image seems to have a typo right near the top...I'm sure that the abbreviation for "The Albatross" is meant to be Al/a, but they've got A1/a.

Yeah. Reminds me of when typewriters didn't have a 1.

Maybe if they weren't in a list but a chart and organized by location and stardate into a grid it would be more accessible.

Menagerie is two eps, not one long one, at least to me. How do tptb number them? Just wondering.

Both parts of "The Menagerie" (Commodore Mendez, etc) were filmed as Episode 16 ("6149-16" on the clapboards), and count as one.

On top of that, when the Star Trek Concordance came out, there was no stand-alone version of "The Cage," unless you count the battered b&w print that Gene Roddenberry showed at conventions. So Me was the single symbol for "The Cage" and both halves of "The Menagerie."

If we were going forward with the system today, which apparently we are not, the obvious symbol for Episode 1 "The Cage" would be Ca (because Cg is taken).

In that list, the code for "Bem" is more characters than the actual name.

Instead of Be/a, the symbol should have been Bem/a. That would provide more information (the full title plus "animated"), and still be within the maximum symbol length of the system.

Personally, I would use FTWIHAIHTTS - like other long episode titles it's not likely to be confused with anything else!
