Let's Reminisce...

TrekTonight

05:31 PM

Oh, yes. Good times, both. :techman:

Agreed. Remember posting in both. So long ago now.
From the Ranks. I miss that.
I still have old reports from when I did the report in misc and the AL. Fun time. Emh's comments.
Chair throwing threads!
I remember starting one for callissto when she got promoted to Rear admiral.

For me, it was both flaptain lounge and commoodore lounge. In total, I was there for just 9 weeks, if I recall. Sadly most of those people are now gone from the board.
The Christmas Post Count Massacre of 2002. I lost a few hundred posts- got demoted from Commie (almost Rear Admiral) all the way back to Flaptain.

If I remember I lost around 2000 at the time. I was almost at Vice admiral rank (back then it 10000 posts)

Also, something that happened in the Admirals' Lounge was the Nate & Evil Robert Adventures. Loads of fun.

I was a victim of the Christmas MAssacre, too. I had just registered, as I recall, about three months prior, and only posted a tiny bit (not having discovered the fun of TrekBBS yet), then I came back in January, and couldn't log in. I thought I must have gotten banned, but couldnt' for the life of me figure out what I did wrong, then the current leader, I think Lisa at the time, said I was a victim once I e-mailed asking about it.

I have found it's not necessarily the "good" times that are fun to remember, but all the wacky, weird, strange, and evil posts made that make the place fun. Of just bizzare stuff, like the Search function being removed for a long while (it seemd like forever, AntonyF).

For some reason I remember a lot of excitement about sloths in the summer of 2003. I wasn't a part of it (I had stopped watching Enterprise, so at the time I knew nothing of the Xindi arc), but it was freaking everywhere... and for someone ignorant of the origins, it was quite surreal.

Then the badgers came along and topped it.

For me it has been some of the bizarre discussions in the Lit forum.

There's a Lit Forum :wtf::wtf::wtf::wtf:

This place is just like a labyrinth to me, I'm amazed I ever even make it here. Not surprising I have no idea where to go when I arrive. It takes me half an hour to find the Dr Who forum everytime I want to go there.

I don't think I'm made for technological advancement!

Since I am new here, what is the Commie Lounge you speak of?

It's the Commodore's lounge - you'll get in when you reach that rank.

Don't want to dash anyone's hopes though but the Commodore Lounge that everyone's reminiscing about is what it was like when they were Commodores - i.e. ages ago :p - a lounge reflects the people in it.

Chair throwing threads!
Aw, you beat me to it!

*pitches a chair at the nearest poster for good measure*

I remember lobbying for avatars.
starbys making likenesses of all the regulars (some of which still float around *points left*)
JeffK
Morn the Lorian
Outing Ms Tanaka - boy, I was so nervous about getting in trouble with the staff for that one, and it ended up being such a non-event.
The Terran migration
IRC chat
Being creeped out by tshrike/Daystrom *shudder*
Rufie!

My all-time favorite memories are the "You Know You're a Niner When..." thread of 4 or 5 years ago, and the "Serenity Countdown" threads that I had the joy of running.

Funny, I don't personally invest in this place near as much as I used to. I can remember getting pretty emotional over things that were happening here in my early days as a poster. Now I just sit back and munch on my proverbial popcorn. ;)

I really enjoyed the writing competition I participated in a while back. And not just because I won. ;)
I remember that too, and not just because I came second. :shifty: :D We should so do another one. :bolian:

I also remember there was a singing thread in Misc, I think it was a Pop Idol themed competition type thread where people sent in snippets of their singing. Memorable for all the right and wrong reasons. :guffaw: We should so do another one of these too. :bolian:

^ We really should. I remember the Merry Christmas/Happy New Year thread where we all made recordings of each person saying a holiday greeting, and Flukie (I believe) put all of them to background music. It was fun. :D

J.

My favorite parts in the NYE one is Dama47s son Max playing Auld Lang Syne, and vedek loki's signoff, perfect! :D If I get enough encouragement, I'll try and do one this year. :)

Perhaps, given that we're coming close to the 2010s, now would be a good time to do another one. :)

I remember the Great Mongoose War of '05.

Starman was allowed back in and wanted to get his post count back in a hurry - can't remember his username, then - anyway, he arranged for the lounge wars and we Flaptains rallied behind him, mostly cuz we didn't know what else to do and it sounded fun.

The commie lounge I think is probably the best lounge because, you're now used to being on the board and getting to know some of the other people. Then, you get into the higher lounges and ..., there's just so many people in there you kinda lose track of conversations.

But, those I remember most from those days

DsZ
Pingfah (still here an occasionally visits me in TNZ)
Dark Helmet
Akiraprise
Cayla
TrekTerp
flavius (just thinking about that baby with the tongue still creeps me out)

Every member of Trekbbs has an era or episode from their time here that makes them reminisce.

In the words of Echo and the Bunnymen, 'nothing lasts for ever'. But for the sake of a bit of fun, remind everyone of your happiest days at the land of trekbbs...

Mine harks back to a time when a group of us were together in a lounge - I don't really understand the lounges but we don't seem to post in the same place any more (I thought I'd moved to a different lounge the other day but apparently not).

Blab, Omnius, AstroSmurf, Electric Coleslaw, Scottydog and a few others just spent most of our time having oodles of fun in the lounge. It was flirty and funny and a scream basically. We had roller discos, formed bands, had food fights :lol::lol::lol:

Share your most memorable moments as part of our little family...

We had some good times in that lounge!! I remember being so sad when people started leaving/getting promoted. I also remember being handcuffed on more than one occasion!
