Let's Reminisce...

My time moderating the Voyager Forum with da woim.
Woim rocked. :bolian: It'd be great to know how he is these days.

Hey! I just realized I hit 8 years here a couple of weeks ago. I must have slept right through the party....

Newbie. :p

Discovering my TBBS niche in the commie lounge was probably my board highlight, although there were some fun times (as opposed to the "fun" times) in the Voy forum, too. All my board highlights - and the lowest lows as well - revolve around people. Many of them have been great. Some of them have been...not great. Much like anything else in life, really.

I'm starting to think the Commie lounge is the coming of age lounge.
It was so much fun. I miss that kind of fun. I know the AL has lots of stuff going on, but I didn't post much in lounges until I hit the Flaptain's lounge, and then the Commie lounge where I spa-, posted so much, once I left the Commie lounge I just stopped. I post maybe once every month or two in the AL. It's not the same (they're great people though). I miss the Commie Lounge and how it was. :(

I remember when the Caption Contests in SF and Gen Media were at their peak; those were good times.

And a couple of Misc Elections that I was in were a lot of fun.

And, of course, there was the Great Misc Boob Off. :rommie: Too politically correct around here these days to do anything like that....

I think I caught the last of the Lounge War stuff - I made a picture of Lionel Richie in a Commodore's outfit sitting on a Commodore car holding a Commodore 64 with the caption "I'm with the Commodores!"

Subtle, that's what it was.

:D

It's like summer holidays as a child... six weeks of riding your bike, swimming in the river down the lane or at the school's outdoor pool, catching minows, and playing in the wooded hills at the back of home, with nothing more to worry about than being home in time for tea.

If only we knew how fleeting and precious that careless fun would be...

Wow, thanks to this thread, I just discovered that this is my 5 year "anniversary". That's kind of...well, I won't get into that.

Anyway, the most entertaining moment on this board for me was the day Quills dropped the bomb about the plot for TATV in the Enterprise forum. The weeks-long shitstorm that stirred up rocked; the gratuitous hair pulling, shirt rending and creative displays of cursing were simply second to none.

The whole Mr Enterpriser phenomenon was mildly interesting, even entertaining at points, for a good few years.

So I've been trying to think of anything, and I've realized I don't really have any great memories on this board. I mean, I've enjoyed my time here, there's just really nothing that sticks out.

I've never felt as comfortable as I did in the Flaptain and Commie lounges. I fell behind most of my contemporaries in terms of post count, and it hasn't been the same since :(

I did the same. It took me FOREVER (like 3 years) to leave the Commie Lounge because I just stopped posting once all of my friends had been promoted.

It was kinda like that in the Commie lounge (I think I was a commie half of the time I've been posting here) when I first made Commie. It has been about three months since I made Rear Admiral :(.

Back when the Search function was still down, I made this when I was making comic Parodies:

tharpdevenport

I think it covers a lot of things happening back then, and in funny ways.

I forget what board member is in the whtie coat. The little girl in red is T'Bonz.

Oh, yes. Good times, both. :techman:

The Tucker/Reed fan wars in the Enterprise forum...way back in 2001/2002. God, that was fun. I made some good friends in that forum.

From the Ranks. I miss that.

Chair throwing threads!

My time in the Commie Lounge was great, especially in the pillow fight threads.

The Christmas Post Count Massacre of 2002. I lost a few hundred posts- got demoted from Commie (almost Rear Admiral) all the way back to Flaptain.

Just thought of another one that only a few old timer DS9 forum fans will remember- the Time Share Casey avatar! I wonder if PKTrekGirl still has it stashed somewhere.
