I watched this again recently, and noticed how, after Data sends Picard back to the Ent, the scene of Data shooting the thingy is really stretched out in an attempt to create a dramatic or cool moment. Doesn't really work. Would have been better to do it abruptly fast: turn, zap, boom.

I was mad at the time that they replaced the really cool looking Romulan ships from the TV series with a rather generic design for the movie, which ultimately got very little to do anyway.

That this was the only thing I ended up caring about one way or the other goes to show how much of a non-entity this film has always been for me.

Nem was my favorite TNG movie, and remains in the top 3 of all time favorites. I think it has often worked out well whenever they've tapped fresh writing and directing talent and Nem is no exception.

And as has been mentioned before, Nem offers the best space battle of any sci-fi I've ever seen.

It's far from one of my favorite ST films but there were some great scenes towards the end such as the Enterprise ramming the Schmitar and Data's sacrifice (and him pretending to be B4 to rescue Picard earlier). I only wish that they had included more of the deleted scenes, especially the closing one with Commander Riker's replacement.

Sorry, but it put me to sleep in the theater..on opening night!.. mindless, pointless, plotless, long duration action is boring.. nuff said.

I have a love-hate relationship with this film. It was a breath of fresh air to see the Enterprise-E on the big screen again and seeing the crew I grew up with as a child together one last time was pretty awesome. That being said, it just felt wasted and very formulaic near the end. It didn't bring anything new to the table for me and it just felt very dull...

I remember the theater being quite empty save for my Dad, best friend, a couple and two men behind me questioning every aspect of the film. Like, "Why couldn't they just use the transporter to beam to Kolarus III?" Well...in that case Geordi just said it was because he didn't recommend using it due to the ion storm. But in the long run, it was not a memorable experience for me.

I have a question. And it might already be answered somewhere in this thread. But here goes. Were the Remans supposed to be Romulans who had mutated to look like gargoyles? Because of their environment?

They were mutated Macguffins from the planet Plot Device which, if I am not mistaken, in the Southern part of the galaxy.


I think they were supposed to be native to the planet Remus which the Romulans conquered and used them as slave labor.

I disliked the whole concept, but that's my opinion.

I think the Remans were Romulans who had somehow been mutated by the dilithium mining/refining process. I think the social evolution that would have resulted from this is much more interesting to think about than "they were aliens".
