Let's Go Number One!

commodore64

Vice Admiral
Admiral
Uhm, the female officer from TOS. I would really love to see Number One in the next movie, if there is one. How 'bout you?

Claudia Black might make a good one.

Maybe Number One helps Spock, as in the comics, deal with emotions. Although, I kinda think they covered that in the movie.

Absolutely. Id still give her some kind of connection with Spock and Pike. Maybe later she became a Captain at some point and has her own ship.

OOh, Claudia Black is a good choice for Number One. We should get a female captain on screen, that rule about no female captains in TOS needs to be changed in the new timeline. If they'd make Kirk a captian then surely they'd give a ship to Number One.
That is one piece of continuity that's hard to swallow from TOS, I can't but that in the 23rd century utopia of the Federation there would be such extreme sexism.

Where on earth would she fit into the new universe if Spock is already the First Officer?
Simple. Some smart person on the bridge is going to figure out that having the Captain and First officer beam down to a potentially hostile planet is not the best idea in the book. I see no reason why they can't make someone else first officer and just leave Spock with his science officer postition. Honestly, his role would not change at all.

Demoting Spock to simple Science Officer?. Are you INSANE!?!

I am joking, of course.
I've always thought that the two roles were to be kept separate, and it's something I've never fully appreciated from TOS, seeing it as: "we've a science officer who's also first officer because we've been lazy casting". Another woman on the bridge was necessary then and there, and I'd love to see one in any (let's hope many) future production.

ENT already changed that -- Erika Hernandez was the captain of the Columbia. She wasn't a terribly interesting character though.

First officer or captain of the Defiant? Hey, it's a new canon and a whole new world.

Sure, go for it. I wish they'd made Chekov female, the male/female balance is decidedly skewed and it's not like they could've made him any less interesting by doing so.

Listen, like I said in another thread, make Cupcake the Security Chief, and an "O'Brien"-type background character for all of the movies. A "Red Shirt Prime", if you will. Cast a great actress as Nurse Christine Chapel, and have her and Bones get into a fling. Keep Uhura for Spock, and create an "Operations Officer" position for Claudia Black/Megan Fox as Number One so that she and Spock and Uhura can have some romantic triangle issues. Also, cast a Yeoman Rand for Chekhov to hit on, while Kirk tries getting into the pants of an annoying scientist named Carol Marcus.... :)

This is epic fail.

Pike isn't Captain anymore...

So NO Number One.

She would serve zero purpose.

The writers had to snuff #1 and her comrades so the kids could take over the Enterprise.

I do hope Nurse Chapel and Yeoman Rand show up next time, though.

Yeah! They could get Megan Fox to play her! *runs from thread* ;)

And don't look back.

That individual totally ruined Transformers for me. Okay, and the fact that the film was stupid. But the boy was sort of cute.

As for Number One, Chapel and Rand.... Chapel was on the new Enterprise, McCoy talks to her briefly.
