Lets get REAL nerdy. Your favorite deep cut music cue

I like the Romulan theme from Balance of Terror, the when it starts quiet and subdued, and gradually builds. I like how it's used in episodes beyond Balance to convey a sense of gradually building menace.

In case you didn't know...its being reused in PICARD....though so subtly its difficult to hear.

I did find that out, and yeah, that's super awesome. I didn't recognize it while watching the episode, then read it here on the forums under the section devoted to the Picard show. I went back and re-watched the relevant moment in the episode. I've kept an ear out for it since then.

The ending is reused when the landing party beam aboard Botany Bay.

Off the top of my head, its reused in its re-recorded form during Daystroms breakdown, when Adam dies on Eden, the opening of Act I of Mark of Gideon, and perhaps most effectively on the Defiant in The Tholian Web.

My first thought was to post " a lot of season 3 had a lot of fresh new takes". You got there first and better. :)

And NEVER sleep-inducing, TNG.

Seasons 1-4, anyway. Seasons 5-7 more often put people into REM sleep and not in the good Michael Stipe way.

One of mine is the music right after the opening credits of "The Changeling", when it shows the Enterprise, then goes into the bridge with the power being restored. But the music sounds a lot like what James Horner would do with TWOK and TSFS. Very similar, a triumphant sounding piece of music.

Bottom line—TOS had some of the best damned music in science fiction. It certainly had the best music in all the Trek franchise.

Both true statements, but, as I mention in another thread, an awful lot of magnificent music from lesser-appreciated tv and radio series - often by these same composers - has been completely neglected and virtually lost.

I love Kirk does it again which was featured in The Doomsday Machine and By Any Other Name plus I'm quite partial to the third season Klingon theme as heard in Day of The Dove and Elaan of Troyius plus a few other episodes including For The World is Hollow And I Have Touched The Sky! :techman:

That's re-used from the opening of Act 1 of Friday's Child.
