certainly one of top 5 most entertaining ever, and heavily under awarded, and the chris pine thing was ok but more like star wars eh? I don't like how people try to update awesome shit from the past yet don't change the name, because kids get idea the new usually shoddier version is it, when they aren't told its a copy

Chris Pine's an excellent Kirk. Shatner was great, too, but his time is passed.

Let the actors grow old and move on, while allowing the characters we love to remain immortal.

Shat the greatest actor ever, tho? Ummm.....

WEll his time was his time, its kinda lame of you to say its passes, and sounds a little haterish if I may say so!! lol Shatner has not been equaled not by pine in that role and we will see if he gets better. Think of someone who capivated liek sharner did for YEARS and YEARS so much so that even today best buy sells out of the TV series every xmas. Chris pine has a lot to do before getting anywhere near that. So far pine is a in shape kid who got lucky and did an ok job and had nice fake teeth put it.

I would disagree. Following your logic, we should now have "Wizard of Oz" as only the first silent film version (Sorry, Judy Garland and the gang), we would know only Lewis Wilson as Bruce Wayne/Batman (1943), and none of us would ever see "Hamlet" because the actor that first played that role died in the 1600s. J.J. Trek can coexist alongside Original Trek without causing an annihilating explosion in my universe. I am happy to see that TOS Trek is so successful that it merits continuation in film via a new incarnation.

As far as William Shatner goes- he does a great Kirk and a great Denny Crane and has sure had fun with the Priceline Negotiator, but I'd need to snort an awful lot of powdered tribble dung before I started thinking that Shatner was the greatest actor of all time.

Yea, greatest actor is reaaaalllllyyyyyy stretching it.

Definitely one of the better "over-actors" though, he chews scenery very entertainingly

William Shatner is a lucky version of Adam West. People can take that remark as they will.

Hey, I like Shatner, and I'd let you finish, but this isn't really the right forum for a thread about him (try GTD? TOS?) so I'll just close this.
