Let the Right One In--Has anyone seen it?

Of course, because it's from Sweden, and I'm from Sweden. :p

Not as good as the book (which is translated to English) of course. I would recommend to see the movie first, then read the book to get some deeper understanding of some aspects of the movie.

John Ajvide Lindqvists second book arrives in English soon ("Handling the Undead").

I saw it the other night. It was pretty good. Has a lot of ambient silence punctuated by startlingly cool/horrific visuals.

Kind of alternates between sweet and touching and creepy/gory - the juxtaposition is part of its charm I think.

One of the better more interesting vampires movies I think.

This definitely gets me interested, I really like well done vampire movies and this looks like a kind of atypical vampire movie and could be a really good twist and a very interesting movie.

I'm kind of a sucker for horror films anyway, the other one I've got on my radar is the Uninvited too, which is apparently an adaptation of a Korean film, looks great:

Saw it last night. Loved it. Those kids were so good in their performances. Eli was effectively dangerous and scary but so lonely and heartbroken at times where you just wanted Oskar to give her a hug. And Oskar. What an adorable kid. The bullies made me angry, mostly because it brought out a streak of violence in Oskar.

I loved Oskar and Eli scenes together on the playground. And how she didn't give off cold fog or wear a coat. And how she was curious about him.

The movie did some neat things with vampire mythology, which is a relieve after Twilight came along and made them fucking sparkle in the sun. I liked that Eli was very animalistic when she needed blood. She smelled foul and looked a mess. Yet she felt so much pain in taking life. That really resonated with me. I also like that she wasn't a wise old immortal, but forever stuck at 12. She couldn't remember how long she's been 12. That was a very sad concept.

Overall, great movie. It's more about the barren, cold landscape of loneliness than it is about creatures of the night. About the power of a hug.

You mean that other Vampire movie that's out right now besides Twilight? ;)

I really want to see this movie. But sadly it's showing nowhere near me. I really wish that foreign films were treated much better over here. Hopefully it gets a wide release on dvd like Pan's Labyrinth. LOVE that movie.

The title also has another meaning relating to the isolation that Oskar and Eli experience and how they slowly work at letting themselves get close to one another. I think "Let Me In" is even more fitting but "Let The Right One In" has a more unique hook to it.

There's also a cool moment that shows what happens when you don't invite a vampire in and they come in anyway.

I'd really like to see this. I hadn't even heard about it until the guys on the Filmspotting podcast reviewed it. It's showing about 45 miles from me, and I'm hoping I find the right time to catch it.
