Leonard Nimoy Passes Away

My initial reaction was captured in a vlog over here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PIU3pZ-dpII

I had a feeling when I heard he was rushed to the hospital. I even remember thinking, "He's probably going to die," because it's never good when someone his age is rushed to the hospital.

I had a horrible feeling of doom last night. Now I know why.

God bless him. He brought a lot to the world and had the honor of playing one of the most iconic Scifi characters on television.

"I have, and always shall be your friend."

Well, you cry. I'm crying, too.

Oh man, seeing that one hit me hard:(
:(

Don't know what to say. Hoped it wouldn't happen for many years.

Same here! I remember when he was first taken into hospital last year and you get that feeling, yet he left and was hopefully much better! But alas not....RIP Mr.Spock!

There are no words. Except, of course, for those already said.

One of my memories of him would be driving home one evening from work, and flipping through the public radio stations only to hear that unmistakable voice. It was a Hanukkah special discussing the stories and songs of the holiday. Well, of course, I had to listen. :)

A sad day today.

R.I.P. Leonard Nimoy

A Living legend has passed:borg:
It was really hard to believe at first..but then it sank in.
He was a great actor, funny and intelligent human being, an artist, a poet..and of course Spock.

I first saw Spock on the TV screen when I was around 8 years old(that being The Wrath of Khan). So its fair to say that he, or at least his character, was there at the start of my love of all things Star Trek.
I will miss him..but his character(s), movies, poems and thoughts will continue to live in the far future and beyond.

Thank you for all the good moments, Mr. Nimoy.

Live long and prosper.

He is now a monument.

I was just about to go to work, and I wondered for a moment if I should call in and take a grieving day, same as you would loosing a parent.

Don't get me wrong, I am very sad and everything that Leonard has passed away, and I mean this with the greatest of respect when I ask this, but a grieving day off work for someone you never knew personally? Isn't that a bit overboard? Again, I mean no disrespect. I just feel like that's a bit strange, is all.

You don't have to know someone personally to love them and grieve for them when they are gone. Spock was in all of our living rooms and all of our hearts for many decades via Star Trek reruns and, as kids growing up, many of us felt we "knew" him and were as close to him as a family member.

If you think that's strange or overboard, then I don't think you understand Star Trek at all.

The grieving part isn't strange. I totally understand that. In fact, I grieved too.

The "taking a day off work" part is just a bit strange to me. What boss would even let one of their employees take a day off work because of an actor or celebrity dying? I know that if I tried that with my boss, he would laugh and say, "You're kidding right?"

Not strange at all, at least to me. I've taken "sick" days at work before because I was caught up in a good book and wanted to finish it. Usually you don't have to give a reason why you are taking off, if you have sick or vacation time, they don't ask for a reason.

Yeah, that's true.

Again, I meant no disrespect to soapp. Sorry if it seemed like that.

You've obviously never worked for Royal Mail then,Mars! They expect you to ring in everyday and want to know 'exactly what's wrong with you'! When you can come back and what medicine you are taking! When you do get back you have to be interviewed by a jerk who calls himself a manager and then chances are you'll have a mark put on your record with a warning that any further illnesses can result in your dismissal! I kid you not!

Sick days have become little more than mislabeled vacation days, nowadays.

The Leonard Nimoy episode of Bonanza is on MeTV right now...not the originally scheduled one that still shows up on my program guide. He actually plays a fairly small role in it, but he's in it.

It would be a neat trick to take all these little roles and put them together in a compendium.

That's what you get for living in a communist country! ;)
