Leonard Nimoy Passes Away

Quoted from NY Times tribute article today:

"To this day, I sense Vulcan speech patterns, Vulcan social attitudes and even Vulcan patterns of logic and emotional suppression in my behavior," Mr. Nimoy wrote years after the original series ended.

But that wasn’t such a bad thing, he discovered. "Given the choice," he wrote, "if I had to be someone else, I would be Spock."

On social media, everyone's been posting Spock's funeral, but this is the moment that really does it for me...

My eyes fill up just watching it. Even more so now.

Don't know why, but I didn't see this one coming. This news will sadden the world.

I don't know what else to say . . . so I'll say it with pictures.

Goodbye, Leonard. People will still know you in 100 years.

Very sad news indeed. Condolences to his family and friends.

I first watched Star Trek in early 70's on the BBC, so this is the loss of another childhood hero. But as has been said, he led a full life, with a wonderful legacy left behind for us to enjoy, even if it is now tinged with sadness. Actor, director, artist and icon. He will be missed by many.

I could watch this interview a million times...

Could someone post a link to this video, TenFourFox browser doesn't do plugins like Firefox, and I can't play it as it stands.

Completely gutted as well. I don't even know what to do with myself. I think if I watch any of the TOS or TOS movies I'll end up crying again/more. I had hoped he'd live to see the 50th.

Thoughts, prayers, and condolences to everyone - his family, friends and fans.

The thing is, if anyone else had been cast as Spock, Star Trek would be a different show. It might have suvived three years and it might even have had a film series, maybe, on the strength of Shatner and the cool spaceships, but Spock and much of the show's interior culture would be different and probably not as richly textured.
