Leonard Nimoy, in Trek 12 or not? (Possible Spoilers, but I doubt it)

I read somewhere recently that it's a possibility that Leonard Nimoy won't be playing Spock in the next film, because he's retiring from acting (again). In the article it he said it wouldn't be fair to Zachery Quinto. (I'd give the link, but I don't remember where I read this)

Anyways, that kind of sucks. I suppose Trek XII could b just as good without Nimoy, but I was hoping he'd be in it. Has anyone heard anything else about this?

He says he's retiring from acting. Period. Though I don't know if that includes voice work. Personally, I love Spock. He's my favorite character. But I think that it's time for this crew to find its own path. Also, there's already more than enough characters to deal with in one movie.

From what I have read he has retired and has no plans to play Spock once again and that the torch has been passed to Quinto.

You never know, if he is not in this one and this film becomes successful, he might come back one last time :)

I've never expected Nimoy to appear in any other movies. It looked to me like the point of his appearance was to officially hand things over to the new cast. For him to come back would be kinda dorky, and I think he knows that.

However, if there was a Star Trek TV series with new characters (because the movie cast isn't going to start doing TV), a guest appearance as Spock (in the Abrams U) wouldn't be a bad idea.

Having Spock Prime in the next film, pandering to Shatner's desire to have Kirk Prime in the next film, even letting frelling Chekov Prime in the next film... all bad, bad ideas in my book. I look at the purpose of Trek XI as a bold new start which required much torch-passing to get where it was going. I look at the purpose of Trek XII and, within the Abramsverse, beyond as a new frontier which no longer requires all that torch-passing or anything of the sort.

Spock Prime can be mentioned in the next film, and if it is to focus at all on rebuilding Vulcan (I would think this would be best served as a subplot leading into the main plot) then perhaps he should be mentioned. But giving him more scenes? As much as I truly, truly love Leonard Nimoy's acting, I agree with the good man that it simply wouldn't be fair.

I don't want to see a trilogy or more of movies that keep smacking us upside the head with Primeverse issues. What the bloody hell is the point of that? I'm glad Nimoy is retired from acting, since it probably lets us avoid that nonsense.

Oh, and yes, he appears to be voice-acting regardless. At least, he still has a few projects on his plate. A Kingdom Hearts title has him credited and that won't be out for several months, I think.

Actually I think I may have read this on Memory Alpha. I know it wasn't on here, and I don't remember many photos being in the article.
