Leonard Nimoy and COPD

Isn't COPD the modern, PC term for emphysema? I don't see any significant difference between the two diseases.

I don't think PC applies to this, I certainly hope not. This is from the wikipedia:
The most common symptoms of COPD are sputum production, shortness of breath, and a productive cough. These symptoms are present for a prolonged period of time and typically worsen over time. It is unclear whether different types of COPD exist. While previously divided into emphysema and chronic bronchitis, emphysema is only a description of lung changes rather than a disease itself, and chronic bronchitis is simply a descriptor of symptoms that may or may not occur with COPD.

Regardless of the exact terminology, regarding the Wikipedia symptoms - I'm simply saying that I see no important difference between COPD and emphysema. I'm just old enough to know that the term COPD didn't exist a few decades ago; that particular cause of death was called "emphysema." Again, is there any important difference between these two "supposedly" different smoking diseases?

From a non medical view point, I'm sure it's not important, but people don't usually die from consumption anymore, either.

I was just saying you're not wrong but not exactly right, either.

I remember seeing Shatner smoking while singing one of his disastrous songs back in the seventies I think it was! He was like in a Victorian London fog with the poison! Could have been Lucy, in, the, sky, of, diamonds? :guffaw:

Now that you mention it JB, I'm pretty sure he had one with Rocket Man!

I assume the "Rocket Man" cigarette was just a prop...

As someone who has never smoked, never tasted nicotine and been smothered in smoke (only when in the company of fools who do I suppose) I cannot understand why anyone in this day and age would breathe in that filth?
Although my Mother who was a keen smoker right up until 1980 tells me, you're never alone while you have a cigarette and it's a real friend cobblers!

Yes.

It was an edited television commercial version of the one you posted.

Thanks, Kor.
