Just a quick plug for a great McCoy comic book - I just read the first issue of Leonard McCoy, Frontier Doctor.. Highly Recommended!

Never heard of that, but it sounds interesting. Is it a TPB collection?

It's a 4-issue miniseries whose first issue just came out. It'll be a while before it gets a TPB collection.

Finished it yesterday. I quite enjoyed it. I thought it was a good use of all the characters and I really like McCoy getting some back story. I thought the love triangle at his age might come off as contrived like you said but it was well done.

The assassin story line fit in very well and balanced off the drama with some action. The villain of the piece I thought was superbly well written. Not a 1 dimensional character at all, he was convincing and thoughtful. Simply a man who's ideals were contrary to ours, but not a mustache twirling caricature at all.

I did find Tray a little thin in the character department but that's all. Everything else was good. MJF has to be one of my favorites

I did enjoy the assassin story, and that character.

I just thought what MJF did with Jocelyn read like the fantasy some kid has about their divorced parents. Seemed silly to me, and how the triangle gets resolved was movie-of-the-week predictable. But I'm glad you enjoyed it. I might give that author another shot (frankly my bad experience with this and another of his novels has kept me away from Death in Winter).

I did not enjoy Death in Winter. In fact I hardly remember it, but I remember thinking it was a tough read. So we agree there for sure.

I see your point about Jocelyn. I totally understood McCoy's point. I won't go into details but I have an ex that I think will haunt me for 40 years too But I agree that their reconnecting might be a little over the top, and yes her death was definitely MOTW.

The assassin plot was great. I'm still thinking about it

Oh thanks. Sadly I haven't actually seen any of the new eps yet, I live in the US and don't get BBC America. (Damn SYFY!)
