Last Saturday Penn State Women's Volleyball notched win #100 last Saturday with a sweep of Cal for (what I think) is currently the second longest win streak in NCAA history. Win two more and they win their third NC in as many years.
From what I can find, the longest NCAA win streaks are now:
1. 137 - Miami (Fla.) men's tennis (1957-1964)
2. 100 - Penn State women's volleyball (2007-present)
3. 92 - North Carolina women's soccer (1990-1994)
4. 89 - Stanford women's tennis (2003-2007)
5. 88 - UCLA men's basketball (1971-1974)
Clearly some sports are harder than others to maintain win streaks like these, so it's a bit like comparing apples and oranges. That said, I'm surprised to see soccer and basketball with such high numbers.
