I was fortunate enough to go to a pre-screening last night and I loved it. Granted, I'm a Godzilla fan but I thought that it was good overall. As good if not better than Skull Island and definitely better than 2014. Some points.
    • It has a more science fiction feel to it than the previous two Monsterverse films with added tech and such
    • There are some pretty interesting Easter eggs to be on the lookout for.
    • The monsters look great. Yes, they're obviously CGI but it's well done CGI.
    • The humans are there to basically move the plot along and the main conflict is pretty straightforward. It's not a bad story but it's a pretty run-of-the-mill story.
    • I could have used a little more Mothra.
Overall I really enjoyed it. Never trust Rotten Tomatoes. The fact that crap like Ant-Man gets certified "fresh" made me realize a long time ago that their algorithm was a joke.

Why the need to put down a fun movie like Ant-Man because you're hurt the critics aren't matching your love for a movie you like?

Or maybe different people like different things and it's unreasonable to expect an objective standard of movie quality to exist. Plus an aggregate review rating is merely meant to be a first rough approximation that you then follow up on by reading individual reviews and more detailed analyses, not some absolute final truth that stands on its own.

The only screening in English at the local theatre is on Monday night, but I got tickets for it. Friends are coming, too.

So far I've read IGN and Io9's reviews, and they both say pretty much the same thing, the monster stuff is amazing, but the human stuff isn't that great. So basically, it's like 90% of the Kaiju movies ever made.

I'd rather have him step on Brie Larson.

The review rating might be because most critics are at Cannes and haven’t published their reviews yet even the embargo lifted. It will probably go up once more get posted online.

Unless they have the human characters communicating primarily via semaphore or Aldiss lamps, I don't really care what they say or do. As shallow as this may seem, I'm going to watch it for the WWE type kaiju smackdown many (not all, but many) moviegoers expect from this kind of flick.

I mean, tussling dinos have been a thing since the silent era of films. It's tradition.

(Besides, this should more than make up for the expectations I had when I saw my first Goji movie, "Godzilla vs. Megalon" in 1976. Bloody Saturday morning production values (except for Megalon's destruction of a dam; that was quite impressive) put me off Godzilla until I risked watching the 1956 American edit on a UHF channel around 1980. That redeemed my faith in the concept. What we'll see in this movie is what my overactive imagination expected from "...Megalon".)

What struck me about Rotten Tomatoes, when I checked it last night, is that there was a consensus description despite only eighteen reviews having been collated; in my experience, they don't normally appear until at least double that have been gathered. Has its idiosyncrasies, that site.

A friend and I have booked to see it tomorrow. Godzilla 2014 was fairly thin on story and the humans, bar Bryan Cranston, were pretty unmemorable, but that didn't stop me loving the film since the feel, the look and the kaiju, most of all Big G himself, were all fantastic. It was a real experience, and I'm hopeful the same will prove true of KOTM.

It is a movie about giant monsters wrassling and wrecking cities, I’m not expecting a transcendent cinematic experience.

Just saw the movie. It's a lot of fun, with some cool homages and Easter eggs for us old-time GODZILLA fans.

Tip: stay through the closing credits for one last scene.

So it does have a post-credits scene then? I've been wondering about that.

    I enjoyed the film.

I go to these monster films to see the monsters in action. I was not disappointed. I am interested to know more about the monsters which were not high-lighted, like the creatures we saw on the monitors.

Some of the cinematography in this film is fantastic and stunning.

If I want to see films based arouind humans, there are other films out there to see this weekend. There is a film about a family owned farm in California and FathomEvents is featuring Saving Private Ryan on June 2. I plan on seeing these films over the weekend.

I do not know yet if I will see Godzilla again.

I saw it opening night at the local theater here, I thought it was a great monster flick and left room open for certain new monsters later.

I was a little disappointed that

When the Navy Admiral said they had a special weapon designed to kill Titans, instead of the Oxygen Destroyer bomb I was hoping he meant MechaGodzilla. At least the fallout from the bomb will possibly lead to Destroyah later.

Just got back from seeing it. Pretty enjoyable with a couple of minor nitpicks.

One, it looks/feels as though some scenes were cut/missing to get to the monster action more quickly as some of the transitions were pretty abrupt; with Charles Dance's character disappearing before the final act.

Also, while some of the names of the Titans that were shown on screen were familiar, maybe WB/Legendary could only license the rights to the 'Big Four', as the other Titans that appeared (aside from a brief glimpse of Kong) were creatures that had never been seen before. (A giant Mastodon?) Maybe they're saving them for an appearance in the next movie 'Godzilla vs. Kong', because Skull Island is where all the Titans seemed to be converging at the end of the movie.

Edit To Add: I wondered if someone was going to make a 'Larry, Curly and Moe' joke re: Ghidorah and I wasn't disappointed.
