Very meh from me. I don't buy the Doctor and Yaz at all. No chemistry but I honestly put that down to the writing. They didn't develop this relationship at all.

I had trouble with this one. The 'incidental' music was too loud, and the dialogue too quiet and too rushed.
Same. It's becoming a common problem in recent times.

Oh, thank goodness, I thought I was stroking out! It really wasn't very good at all. Chibbers can't write. Full stop (well, at least for Who). To me Yaz is a vacuum. Dan is just a bloke that they really don't know what to do with. The guests just seemed bewildered. And Jodie seems rushed and not getting into it, she was the worst I've seen her, IMO.

I shall not miss the Chibbers era. Not at all. And that's a shame because Jodie (like Capaldi) could have been great with some better writing.

I didn't think it was BAD, just not great. Agree that it was a tad rushed (Doctor and Co seem to pop out of nowhere in several scenes) and Jodie was a bit subdued (though given the amount of vitriolic shit directed at her tenure and the tabloid rumour mill, I am frankly surprised she hasn't pulled a Colin and made them do the last couple of specials with some rando in a blonde wig).

However, it did give us a very lovely and Doctor-y moment with the TARDIS on the sea floor. That was a truly beautiful effect and really hammered home how special it is to travel with the Doctor.

Yes, that was a lovely moment for the reasons you stated and how the episode actually took a moment to breath. But the "date" awkward moment was unnecessary.

Agreed. It not only looked absolutely incredible, it's the sort of thing that only TARDIS travel can offer and was a rare instance of new Who having substance along with its style. Having said that, I'd rather have more substance and as Meh pointed out the "date" crap that followed had none whatsoever.

It would be nice if the show got the hell away from the "companions in wuv with the Doctor" crap in its next incarnation. Given who'll be running the show next, that's a very forlorn hope.

Wow, overnights for this were 2.2 million, that's pretty much half of what ep 1 of Flux got :cardie:. Probably the lowest Who's had since the show came back. (I know it'll go up and we need to look at what audience share it got but still...that's gotta worry people.)

That's....really really bad, yeah. Not many ways to sugarcoat it.

Yeah, that's not good.

On the other hand, 2 million feels like a lot (I know, context, etc.).

Plus, you know, my general apathy towards rating metrics and such.

But to be hopeful, maybe a lot of people will return for Davies. And stick around, too, maybe.

It was an okay episode, though I agree with the general sentiment that it felt somewhat rushed and it could have used some extra time to help things breathe a little. There were some ingredients there for some good old Traditional Who, but it would have been nice if they could have capitalized on it and flesh things out better.

There were some great one liners, I will say. Like "no ship, Sherlock" or "history is never like the books, just like a Stephen King movie."

It was beaten by a repeat of the Antiques Roadshow so not great.

They're going to have to sell the hell out of the final episode in October to swing things around.

Perhaps they can give Chibnall some lessons in doing positive PR between now and then. When he was out doing publicity for this episode he spent most of his time talking about how happy he was to be done and how he really wanted to leave in 2020.

The weird thing is the ratings for Flux were fine with most episodes in the Top 20 for the week. Then Eve of the Daleks took a nose dive and this episode an even bigger one.

Sounds like a guy who knows his career in TV is over after this. :angryrazz: :brickwall::wah: I'd say JNT can finally rest in peace, but I imagine he's just staring slack-jawed and shaking his head from wherever he is now.

Last night's Doctor Who Easter special had an overnight audience of 2.20m (11th most watched programme of day). Was beaten by Antiques Roadshow on BBC Two (2.26m). For younger audiences was tough for Doctor Who going up against Britain's Got Talent which won the night with 5.20m.

There was a new Who episode?

That's a first. My level of interest really has tanked if that flew under the radar. I think I'll just wait for the finale given the response here.
