Legacy Class Mk 2 Starship

Galen82

Ensign
Newbie
Hello all, my first post here, and to share with you my designs for a new class of starship. Now i know she looks like a Sovereign bashed with an Intrepid, but that was kinda the reason and inspiration behind Legacy. I love both Sovvy and Intrepid, and so wanted to take the best of both ships and put them together. Legacy isnt built to replace the Sovvy, but more of the augment Starfleet in its exploration and diplomatic missions, thus she's catergorized as a Heavy Diplomatic Explorer ( New Terminology) She's not as heavily armed like Sovy, and features more defensive weps.

Some of you might have seen the Mk 1, posted over at SFM. The Mk 2 can be considered a ret con version of the Mk 1, or a refit. Suffice to say my skills in using illustrator improved a lot since Mk1, so a redraw was in order. And since i was gonna redraw the ship, might as well make some changes and add some minor JJ trek details into the ship. KK enough typing, and onto the ship. Posted below are links to the lower rez blue prints. I'll post up the high rez ones once all the views are done. Cheers. Comments are always welcome!

Do check out my other artwork on my deviantart page, thanks.

Thanks fellas. She's coming along slowly, but nicely. This is just the prototype version, gonna be making some changes for the production version of the ship.

Also got to figure out nice sizing for this to be printed in. As of right now, the work file is much bigger than A1 size. LOL

This beauty looks like she's travelling Warp 9.9975 standing still. I especially like how the forward section of the warp engines in profile flow very smoothly along the countours of the secondary hull/primary hull mating point.

Do you customarily include oblique, three-quarters or other three-dimensional views of your designs in your blueprints? I'd love to see what this baby looks like in 3-D.

*sniff* I'm touched, finally someone who doesn't aim the impulse engines at a pylon ot nacelle. :techman:

This beauty is made for speed and power.
Very elegant design, really nice one! It would make for a fantastic flag ship!

Been following this beauty since you use to post over on I don't remember what site it was before SFM, Galen. Glad to see there is a Mark 2. Any hints she might pop up in HF since the namesake already has?

She's the title ship in my eternally Work In Progress fics, "Star Trek: Vonnegut" & "Star Trek: Mandela".

Dude... did u even ask if u can use my designs for your fanfics? Normally i dun mind but after looking over your site, i see alot of GKD's design pics up there without permission.

Oh? Which ones? I thought I got them all credited or deleted the ones I lost interest in, as they weren't going to be completed.

Well friends, its finally done. The Production model of the Legacy, USS Cadence. I'll post up the non shaded versions to show off the details. the shading effect clouds up some of the details. Alot of the changes made were around the bridge and saucer section. I changed the saucer shape slightly, hardly noticable, widen the notch at the fore of the saucer, and replaced the Voy style saucer deflector with something a little more coolish, inspired by KIT. The new bridge section now runs down along the neck and spine to the impulse engines. That new spine splits the main shuttlebay into 2 bays. The best paart is the addition of 2 new impulse engines on the side of the spine area. The new cutout forms a cave like area for me to fit thoes engines. Other variants i could fir torp launchers, sensors etc into those area. kk enough said, onto the pics. The larger actual images can be seen on my DA Page. Enjoy!

Yes, Beautiful work! I like the more triangular shape of the primary hull on this version. Too many people are doing the Ent -E "stretched elipse" these days.
