Seems like it's pretty impossible to keep a lid on filming Kirk. They're getting ahead of it.
It also seems likely kirk's in command of his destroyer class ship, but they're keeping that under wraps.
I welcome the ship specific badge ret-retcon.
I'm actually happy they're getting rid of this 800 lb gorilla of "when's Kirk showing up" early on rather than the neverending teasers a la DSC S2 Spock.
That's my two cents. I'll just wait to see what happens.

Yeah, I think that's what they had in mind from the beginning. They learned with season two of Discovery - it doesn't appear from early statements that "adult Spock" was in the original plan for that season, but when the executive producers changed all of a sudden they were casting for one.

I don't know who Mecka-lecka-hi-mecka-hiney-ho42 is or why I should care, but that is not accurate and short by 8 or 9 years. So I'll pass on the 1 hour 42 minute video to discuss a couple of still photographs. Christ almighty.
And the actor has already announced he's playing James T. Kirk, I believe.

You're all going to feel really silly when he only shows up for the last 20 minutes of the Season 2 finale.

And I never will. I could never forgive them for the death of my expectations.
I've only been able to stomach a minute or so of her videos, but I've never seen someone who's supposed to be so into Sci-Fi be so negative and wrong (along with Overlord and a couple others). I mean, they're supposed to be fans but don't seem to enjoy any iteration of what they're supposed to be fans of.

Because you know It's all about that bait, 'bout that bait, ad clicking. Negativity sells, and gets clicks, so you have to be as hyperbolically negative, insulting and doomsaying as you can be to stand out from the crowd of thousands of other YouTube "creators" shitting on stuff that people like. So it's an ever-escalating race to the bottom of seeing how many franchises you can say suck or will be cancelled next season or are pissing on the old showrunner's / creator's "Vision." I don't think they even really believe most of it. They're hucksters.
I completely agree! Some I watched when they started and were very enthusiastic about what they were fans of, only to change themselves because it meant more viewers, whoring themselves out at the expense of their personal convictions and integrity for clicks and views.
Which one? Senior is an old man. Junior has a wife and kids and isn't in Starfleet.
In Star Trek anyone commanding a ship holds the rank of captain. Four man survey ship, the CO is a captain. 1000 man cruiser, the CO is a captain.

Leaks in itself are not (that big) problems.
The problem is if you're in a situation where a single leak substantially destroys your whole messaging. When no-one knows what's going on anymore.
In this case: No-one knows if SNW is actually going to be a "Pike"-show anymore (as advertised) or "TOS reboot 2.0", or just some veeeeeery dumb cameo galore.
Meaning: The messaging of what SNW actually is has been lousy so far, and IF the fact that "Kirk" appears, they should have told us the whole deal ("joining us as a guest star for season 2:"/"Taking over from season 2 onwards:"/"Introducing for a limited series later on:"). So far, the messaging is a desaster. The overwhelming feedback negative. And a lot of good-will scrambled. It might turn out great in the end. But Paramount really needs to work on it's marketing.
