Least favorite Chuck character

I thought I would start this out similar to my thread on our least favorite Buffy characters. For me, this was a difficult thing to decide, as my opinions on the show are vastly different now than when the series premiered for some reason.

For example, when the show first started, I hated Morgan! I loathed Morgan! I wanted the shows writers to have the character incinerated by an exploding gas pump and pureed through a blender! Along with the rest of the Nerd Herders!

On the other hand, I really enjoyed Chuck's sister. I saw plenty of character development possibilities for Ellie, and looked forward to her becoming a bigger part of the show. Same with her fiance. Loved them both.

Now, I'd have to say Ellie and Evan are my least favorite characters. Why? Because, like the Nerd Herders, they are nothing but stereotypes. The Buy More guys are your typical stuck in adolescence, man-child stereotype. Ellie and "Awesome" are the over-achiever stereotype. None of them are actual characters in my opinion, and certainly not ones I care about.

In fact, their success seems to the their sole defining trait as a character. The fact that they are doctors gets mentioned at least once an episode, usually in the most condescending manner possible. Awesome saves lives. Ellie replaces heart valves. Awesome is a heart specialist. I know. We get it! You both somehow managed to graduate from medical school and move on to successful practices by the age of 25. We are in awe! Drop it already!

As much as I hated Morgan in the beginning, I started caring more for Morgan than Ellie. Especially more than Awesome. At least Morgan has the occasional glimmer of self-recognition. Ellie and Awesome seem to lack any sort of insight whatsoever, which is probably why Chuck has managed to pull off two years of extremely odd behavior without making them wonder for more than a few seconds.

I guess my problem is taking something like characters seriously in a show that isn't supposed to be taken seriously. That, in itself, is one of the major flaws I find in Chuck. As entertaining as I find the show, there isn't much meat to chew on. The show portrays life in its own special kind of black and white. There are no shades of gray. Chuck is working in retail. People who work in retail are all losers and trouble makers. Everybody else is successful and living a problem free life with a virtually limitless pocket book.

Just my view of the show. Again, probably am better off analyzing Scrubs than Chuck!

You know, I like Ellie and Awesome, and when the "big reveal" happened last week, and he was so supportive,
I shouted, "Yay Awesome!" And, when I saw the ad for this week's show, I got irritated that Ellie's wedding may possibly be ruined. I don't know; it must be a girl thing.

I just find the two semi-normal people in the show to be very appealing. I really disliked Morgan in the beginning and I still don't care that much for him, but at least his role has been reduced. The Buy-More clowns in general get old pretty fast and are best when used sparingly.

Yeah, I would agree you're over analyzing Chuck. But I would disagree about the no shades of gray in the show. The US Government is just as nasty and ruthless as Fulcrum is. The only difference between the two is that The CIA and NSA are doing what they do for the good of the country. Fulcrum are traitors who want to sell The Intersect's secrets to our enemies.

But back on topic. I hate Bryce Larkin. Duke of Douche. King of Cockblocks. He's so skilled at the art of cockblock if he were at a Playboy Party, no one would get laid. He even managed to cockblock Chuck from beyond the grave. Now that is talent.

As hot as she is, I guess I'd have to say Ellie. It's certainly not the actresses's fault-- it's just the way she's written. All the constant nagging and worrying and scolding of Chuck gets REALLY old after awhile.

I definitely wouldn't get rid of her though; I'd just have the writers give her more to do.

least favourite chuck character? hmm... Chuck
I hate to say it, but even he gets on my nerves at times. I mean, how many times does he have to be put in harms way and survive before he stops acting like a 13 year-old girl whenver danger comes around! You think by now he'd be pretty well used to danger, and he would have picked up some combat training.

That's something I should have mentioned as well. The nagging is all part of having a character that is portrayed as being essentially perfect in every way. If someone believes he/she is perfect, they can't see why anybody would do anything different from themselves. Thus, nagging others to be more like them.

I am going to have to agree with Thrall and say Bryce Larkin. Followed by Awesome's parents, who I thought would have been much better when first proposed given the people who play the characters. Maybe they will do better in their second outing in the roles. My fingers are crossed that they can pull it off.

I found it interesting that beckman said that Fulcrum is winning. What does that mean anyway? Will America be an overtly conquered state or will Fulcrums people just quietly replace the top people in Washington?

Fighting with your back to the wall makes you a real bastard.

The decimation of that wedding is as certain as Sheridan's assault on Za'ha'dum. It's a nexus, a crisis point, all frakking roads lead to the Awesome's wedding and the smoking hole destiny insists it becomes... Bruce Boxlieghtner is coming back for the wedding, maybe he will finally be revealed as the chief of Fulcrum and we can have an Enterprise vs. Babylon 5 duke out? Y'know for fanprops?

Don't apologize for being a girl, you probably smell the best of everyone else in this discussion.

I despise Anna. She has too much marcara in her eyes. It's Meme Bobeck strength clown makeup. That would be an awesome diet? Want to lose 5 pounds in 5 five seconds Anna? Clean the shit out of your eyes!

In Season One it was Morgan, but the little pest has really grown on me this year. This year, I'd say my least favourite character is whomever is keeping Anna Wu off my LCD screen. Bastard!

Morgan and the rest of the Nerd Herd (aside from Chuck).

God, all three of those characters suck ass and make me want to fast forward the Buy More scenes.

I always hated Bryce. And even though the writers revealed that he knew what was going on all along and did his best to protect Chuck, I still haven't warmed up to him.

I was humming to myself "King of the Cockblockers" everytime Bryce showed up, the whole way through last nights episode. :)

Morgan, for providing the mother of all cockblocks to poor Chuck two episodes ago.

Real answer: Jeffster. Yes they're supposed to be comic relief caricatures, but they're not that far away from some personality types I know in real life that annoy the living hell out of me.
