He was such a stubborn, overbearing, arrogant asshole...and that's why I thought he was AWESOME! For me, the way he alienated, disrespected, abused, and ignored the feelings and opinions of the whole crew was hilarious and made me like him.
I like the whole regular cast. Like someone else said, I think what's more irritating about Wesley was the way he was constantly used as a plot device to save the ship. As a character, I found him likable. He was a bit of a square, but overall a kind, smart, good-natured kid. I enjoyed his romances with Salia and Lefler, and not just because the girls were so sweet...I give him credit for helping to make them as enjoyable as they were. I agree that the First Duty really demonstrated what a good person he was.
Two characters I couldn't stand were the Pakleds in that episode where they imprison Geordi on their ship while Picard is away having surgery. Every time they spoke about how they're "smart", I wanted to beat them to death. I felt like throwing something at the television. I'm so glad those characters were never re-visited. Another one-time character I can't stand is Q2, but I made a whole thread to rant about that, so I won't go into my objections to him again here.
I didn't like Pulaski and Troi much either. Pulaski was just too stuffy, preachy, and bland, and Troi tended to get overemotional to the point where it was grating sometimes. I also thought her counseling methods tended to be really lazy and unconvincing, basically just asking people "how do you
FEEL"? She wasn't all bad, though...she was quite the looker, she had some nice comedic moments, and I liked the humour and affection she showed in some of her interactions with Picard, Riker, Worf, and Data.
