Least discussed episode

This thread already seems to be veering from "least-discussed" to "that episode I don't like," which are not necessarily the same thing. "Turnabout Intruder" and "The Way to Eden" are both terrible eps, but are frequently mentioned--if sometimes as cautionary examples. We all know the most celebrated episodes, as well as the famously worst, but I suspect the OP is thinking of the "mid-tier" episodes that get discussed less often.

"Miri," possibly. Or "Friday's Child" or "Mark of Gideon"?

Good points.

I think FC and MOG are discussed relatively often, but great call on Miri. That may be the answer.

An episode that is not often discussed: That Which Survives.
Except the technical details on how the ship goes warp 14.1 and is about to blow up...and travels over 500,000 times the speed of light! And, that's about it.

"The Lights of Zetar." Scotty is in love and weird space stuff that is confusing happens but I think the lack of Kirk,Spock or McCoy doing anything of note kind of hurts it. The guest star isn't all that great and it's a season 3 episode.

This is just another subtle "worst episode" thread
I cannot abide the aberration that is "A Piece Of The Action", and apart from ridiculous pantomime "1920s" gangsters, there's nothing I care to remember about the daft storyline.

I actually like Private Little War. When I posted about it, I wasn't thinking worst episode. I probably would have picked something like Way to Eden or Omega Glory.

Piece of the Action is not liked? I loved that episode. It was a better comedy to me than Trouble with Tribbles, which I think is a little overrated.

I for one like The Omega Glory! It might leave a few large unanswered questions but it has another Starship, a crazed Starship Captain who seems to be more physically fit than Kirk and a theory about immortality!
Plato's Stepchildren, does it get much mention here? :techman:

City on the Edge of Forever. The idea being that so much has already been said about it over the years their is nothing new to say about it anymore.

"A Piece of the Action" is a comedy; it's not meant to be taken too seriously. The fizzbin scene alone is worth the price of admission, as is the discovery that Kirk is an awful driver.

It's a light-hearted, change-of-pace ep, like "The Trouble with Tribbles." What's not to love?

Getting back OT, "The Deadly Years" is indeed a good contender. Maybe also "Wink of an Eye" or "Return of the Archons."

"Plato's Stepchildren," on the other hand, tends to generate discussion by virtue of the famous interracial kiss, the telekinesis pills, and the embarrassing antics Kirk and Spock are put through.

So, our brave captain goes from fighting the Klingons to playing fizzbin in one easy lesson. Considering that the writer of this episode, David P. Harmon, also wrote for Gilligan’s Island, I really can’t take Piece of the Action too seriously. :p

Yeah Plato is out. I think the least discussed episode has to be one without anything that immediately jumps to mind. For example,
Plato-kiss
TW Survives-whatshername who was famous at the time
Miri-Kim Darby, also famous at the time
Immunity-cool looking amoeba
PL War-Mugato
TSO Paradise - Spock emotions
etc.

My frontrunners:
Wink of an Eye
Lights of Zetar

what about Catspaw or Cloud Minders?

Yeah, Archons even gets the occasional exo-trekdom reference for those two things.

There's a thread topic idea: Exo-trekdom references.

Except for it being the first episode to feature the Vulcan mind meld, "Dagger of the Mind" is seldom discussed.

Writer Shimon Wincelberg wasn't happy with the way the episode turned out, and used his pen name (S. Bar-David) on it. I happen to think it's a very good episode. Lots of inspired dialogue, atmospheric direction ... plus it's got Morgan Woodward, James Gregory and Marianna Hill.

Yeah, it's funny that the mind meld was invented because it was originally hynoptism but the network feared that viewers might get hypnotized.
