Le Tour de France 2009

Let's see what the Tour brings after a day of rest. 193 kms from Limoges to Issoudun.

And it's Quatorze Juilliet today, so some of the French riders should be itching for an adventure.

This possibly was the most boring TdF stage ever; good job screwing the fans with your little strike, Astana etc.

Another exciting stage ... 192 kms from Vatan to Saint-Fargeau. Everyone should be rested by now after 2 rest days.

211.5 kms from Tonnerre to Vittel. Lots of bumps in this one. Hopefully some riders can escape and make it interesting.

Anything other than Cavendish #5 would be a suprise here imo, those hills are not big enough to get rid of him and Columbia appears too strong to let anything wild happen unless some really strong riders team up on a breakaway (instead of the usual suspects).

So, I was wrong, Columbia decided to have an additional rest day before the Alps and everyone else except AG2R was fine with that too. The breakaway group did an excellent job also though.

eta: finally some action on the last 5km, super impressive attack by Sørensen.

Wouldn't mind in a few years if I have a bit of money following the tour in France. I've been to France twice but only really in and around Paris. It would be an incredible experience to see more of the country.

You know, I'm perfectly ok with following the Tour day in day out on the telly, hearing the same witty remarks and did-you-know's from the commentators ... but I've never been interested in actually attending a race. I wonder if I'd turn in a complete loon once I'm standing at the sideline and they race by.

On a normal stage it's : you come, you wait a veeeeeeeeeeeeeery long time and you don't see the cyclists because they're going far too fast.

Now, a time trial, it's something else :)

Leipheimer abandoned the Tour this morning because of a broken wrist. Wonder if it'll have any influence on Astana, they're stuffed with quality anyway.

Might be interesting stage today with 200 kms from Vittel to Colmar:

Missed the end but impressive from what I heard. And wtf ... someone shot at Freire and Dean with a BB gun? I know it's insanely boring this year, but to liven it up like that :wtf:

BB gun? I didn't hear about that., crazy shit...

Haussler was very impressive in the end, although the thing I liked most about this stage was, that Sylvain Chanvenel had the balls to finish before the main bunch despite his breakdown - big props for keeping his head down and suffering instead of just giving up from me. :)

I'm waiting for another time trial up Alpe D'Huez. Then I'll be in France in a jiffy.

^ Now that would be interesting indeed.

Stage 14: 199 kms from Colmar to Besancon. Nr. 5 for Cavendish today?

Horrible accident resulting in one death and two injured yesterday when a cop crashed into a woman who was trying to cross the street. Seems this Tour really isn't blessed with luck.

The riders will be holding a moment of silence before starting with stage 15. Which brings them from Pontarlier to Verbier over 207.5 kms.

Finish uphill on a cat. 1 climb ... we might actually see some action from the favourites today ... maybe.
