LCARS on nuEnterprise?

Tell me, when was the LCARS interface invented in Trek history? Did TOS Enterprise use that interface? Will this new Enterprise use it for its computers? From what I've seen so far of the computer displays from the bridge shots, it doesn't look like any format we have seen before.

Oh, and a side question, does anyone know what the song is being played in Trailer 3 and where I can download that sound track?

In real life LCARS was created for TNG by Okuda(?). It has never been shown aboard a pre-TNG vessel as far as I can recall.

From close-ups that I've seen, the consoles look like they're a combination of LCARS plus old school buttons and levers, perhaps as a precursor to LCARS.

That's the first time Okudagrams show up, but they weren't specifically referred to as LCARS until TNG. Whether LCARS is a generic name for that kind of totally graphics-based interface, or if it's specific to the TNG-era is an open-ended question.

And we've seen them mix-and-match physical controls with the computer graphics (specifically TUC's Enterprise and Excelsior bridges, plus the Delta Flyer cockpit on VOY), so a mix-and-match on the new movie's bridge wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility.

I checked, and LCARS is the name of the operating system itself, so technically the Okudagrams that became signature for them appeared first in Star Trek IV. (My bad.) It's therefore appropriate that these be called PCAP or whatever.

I think I'd have preferred the TOS/TrekXI version be called GNDN. ;)

Come to think of it, we also saw a mix-and-match approach in what we've assumed were shuttlecraft controls from the set of spy pics taken at the Lebec (power station) filming location several months back:

As an aside: I also see here symbols (red/white-on-black markings at the lower left and right corners of the display showing "004/024") which are similar to the markings seen on the walls of the Enterprise corridor in the trailer pics and panorama site.

I'm pretty happy with what we've seen of the controls so far. They seem to nicely anticipate the TMP setup's backlit panels while still retaining 'Cage' style physical interface panels and toggles. I don't quite get the 'TUC' vibe from them though I can see why others might.

For my money, all the backlit screens on TOS were reconfigurable similarly to LCARS anyway, though probably without as much versatility.
