Law & Order UK tonight

Is there a thread about this already?

I saw the ad in the Metro this morning and it took me a good 30 seconds to recognise Jamie Bamber, he looks so different. Any buzz about this Bob? :D

I was about to post a thread for it. The buzz for the first episode seems to be a bit lukewarm, so I'm not expecting it to be great, but should be ok.
There's a few sci-fi faces in there, with Jamie Bamber and Freema Agyeman, as well as Bill Paterson.
It's apparently based off scripts from the original Law & Order retooled to fit London and the British legal system, so who knows whether that's a help or hindrance, but I'll give it a try.
I know it's on ITV HD too, so seen as I've already seen Heroes, I might watch this in HD and record Heroes.

Is the theme music the same, as well as the opening titles (eg., is there a freeze-frame shot of the Union Jack, a freeze-frame of hands in handcuffs, etc.?)

I'm almost tempted, probably just to see Jamie Bamber use his real accent. It always freaks me out.

Having said that I'm proud of my record of not watching any ITV1 in ages! ;)

Ah, I love the fancy suits and wigs they're wearing in court. How very quaint.

It's weird hearing Bamber's natural accent. I'm so used to the (very good) American accent he uses in BSG.

He said he can't bear watching the pilot for BSG now because he made so many mistakes in his accent.

Hope I can find this via 'alternative methods'. I'm a big fan of the US version and would love the see the UK's take.

I'm assuming less "FREEZE PUNK!" and more "'I'm afraid I'll 'af to ask you to accompany me to the station." ;)

We watch these shows and snigger, including the UK versions of 'police, camera, action' because the cops are always so meticulously polite. Shyeah, right.

Dammit...I just checked BBC America's website, and L&O:UK isn't on it. :( So I wonder how long it will be before we ever get to see it over here.

You never know. Could be like the Sweeney days: "Get your trousers on! You're NICKED!"

:guffaw:at least give it a chance to be a hit before BBC Am takes an interest.

If it does well I can certainly see it airing on BBC Am, but lets wait for it to hit or flop before that happens.

It's an ITV show, so would BBC America *ever* show it, then? I'm not familiar with the politics of channel competition in the UK, so I don't know if competing networks ever show each other's programming. That almost never happens over here (although I have seen the occasional SVU episode on CBS, for reasons unknown).

Yeah, BBC America pick up a lot of shows from other British networks.
Apparently Dick Wolf is hoping an American network will pick it up and air it on Saturday nights.
He hopes ITV will go on to make more than the 13 completed episodes.
He also has ambitions to sell the British version back to America for the Saturday night network slot and to have the UK and New York casts team up for a crossover episode.

I see BBCAm is showing Ashes to Ashes starting next month! I wonder why they'd do that, but not the original Life on Mars. Possibly because of the latter's remake?

Where did you learn that? I would think Saturday nights would be ideal, as NBC is always showing L&O reruns then anyway.

The preview does not look good, Bamber's accent is horrendous.

It's at the same time as Hero's so I know which one I will watch.

I am going to give it a go.
I can't believe i did not watch ITV for ages then they showed a drama i wanted to see at xmas then demons and then white chapel.
But from what i have been reading they cutting costs so they going to make even more realty crap i know they canceled the passage to India remake so i think ITV will be going back to being a forgotten channel to me pretty soon.
