Law & Order General Discussion Thread

Mariska is just like Ellen Pompeo. What can she possibly do after SVU that isn't going to be compared to Benson in some way.

Hargitay makes $500,000 per episode of SVU. She never has to work another day in her life if she doesn't want to.

I'd like to see them bring back Richard Brooks.

He's a liiiittle busy starring on The Rich and the Ruthless.

So do you think the non-resolution of season 1 means Wheatley will be involved in one of the three cases next season?
That's a good question. We know he'll be involved with the first ep of s2.

But it's something...

that he lured Olivia to the hospital where Elliot and Angela were. Was he trying to get them all killed? Was he trying to have it be that Angela finally meets Olivia?

I don't think it's that complicated.

Wheatley bribed Det. Morales to pose as a doctor and give Angela a fatal overdose. I don't think Wheatley wanted them ALL killed, just Angela.

And I'm guessing Morales was responsible for planting the phone in Wheatley's cell. I'm still not sure exactly who Wheatley was TALKING to on that phone, though.

It wouldn't surprise me if Wheatley wanted Elliot and Olivia at the hospital so they'd witness Angela's death, though. I mean, Wheatley knew Angela kind of had a thing for Elliot...

Also...

There goes my theory that the "cops" who stomped Bell's nephew were in Wheatley's employ.

One thing I don't get, though:

Richie, in prison, arranges for the hit on his father in revenge for Manfredi's death. Why would Richie, a black man, particularly care about a grandfather who was so openly racist?

Good points. You're probably right on it.

Yea the Richie thing... exactly. Unless it's a power play?

I remember now.

Richie wasn't trying to avenge Manfredi - he was trying to curry favor with the other inmates and protect himself. So he asked for the hit on his father, who was a rival to a 'boss' that some of the other prisoners were working for.

Richie also didn't believe his father about Manfredi, who was apparently never openly racist towards the grandchildren for some reason. His sister couldn't even convince him Manfredi was a bad guy.

Wasn't Manfredi seen making racist comments during a TV news broadcast at one point? I guess Richie wasn't watching...

Amanda has been stringing him along for a decade for extra help in the kitchen and with watching her kids. He deserves better.

Law & Order: For the Defense is not moving forward at NBC. The Blacklist will move into the time slot instead.

On Thursday, Sept. 23, SVU will have a two-hour premiere followed by Organized Crime. The next week, there will be one SVU episode at 8 p.m. with two OC afterward.

Whatever they had written or filmed must have been awful.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, they were having serious issues with casting; filming needed to begin right around now in order to make the September 23 premiere date, and if you don't have a single cast member locked down, then, yeah, your show's in deep shit.

Organized Crime will be broadcast on a German pay tv channel - what a bummer. Not even Amazon Prime.

Ron Cephas Jones will recur as Congressman Leon Kilbride, a name that Richie dropped in the season finale. Vinnie Jones will also appear as Albi Briscu, a Eastern European gangster.
