Law & Order General Discussion Thread

Corey Cott has been promoted to series regular on SVU, which means he'll depart in the season finale, never to be heard from again.
I don't get his storyline outside to give the new chief an opportunity to twirl her evil moustache. They had the "newbie" last year with Silva and before that Muncy and then before that with Tamin. Tamin was the best of them and they cut her without even giving the actress a reason (if memory serves).

Additionally for the past twenty years or so, SVU was always in a budget crunch. Now, the staff includes two Captains & two Sergeants. Especially with this chief storyline, how does the fictional NYPD justify this?

Found an interesting podcast that did an interview with him recently.

It's sad to see that he had no input into his characters exit. They wouldn't let him have a word in.

He seems like a decent enough person and it sucks that he was treated so badly (by SVU).
After he got fired from the mothership back in the day because the suits wanted more women on the show, you think Dick Wolf would've realized that his SVU departure should have been different.

Exactly. But nooooo. He just views actors as chess pieces (from what he said before) and he uses them and gets rid of them (from what S. Epatha said about him).

They're replacing Busfield.

Thought that show was the best of the bunch these days to be honest.
Stabler had always been portrayed as a hot head and suddenly, he was able to be undercover repeatedly without blowing it. I did not hate the expansion of his character's family, but it had become its own drag on the show. As a person who detests the continued will they, won't they of Stabler & Benson, I didn't need the obligatory scenes between them to further that twice or so a season.

The other characters, especially Bell, Jet & Reyes, were strong, but they never let them develop outside of Stabler's shadow, a lot like the SVU cast under Benson.

Because he grew as a character. There's nothing wrong with that. Characters shouldn't have to remain static.

Disagree about the family being a drag. Thought it added to it.

I did, as I ship them. It added to things. And the actors are in support of it. It didn't take away from things overall in my opinion.

I know it's a gimmick of procedural storytelling, but it's funny how the bad guys never noticed this new guy who joined up with them looks exactly like the cop who got a lot of press coverage for going undercover and busting other cops. If the supporting cast were stronger and given more to do, each arc could've had a different character going undercover.

To each their own, but I wouldn't know anything after it was transferred to Peacock for a season, which also killed whatever interest people of certain age demographics had in the show, especially with the serialization in the show.
