Except Justin Hartley is the only actor of the bunch strong enough to carry a new show. Remember, Hartley was originally cast as Aquaman in the spinoff. If they were to do a JL spinoff they would need to either recast the rest of the team or bring in other heroes. Maybe use J'onn J'onzz, Supergirl, Black Canary, and Hawkman.

Maybe it's just ignorance on my part, but to this day I do not understand this reasoning. When this was used for "Birds of Prey", I did not understand it, and I still don't. Why would a TV show detract from a movie? Especially if they're set in two very different universes? Do they fear that people will say "Why go pay for a movie when I can watch superheroes at home."? If that's the case, it's pretty crappy reasoning IMO and I'd be curious what kind of math they used to figure that one out.

I tend to agree some recast might be needed, possibly due to actors not wanting to be tied to a series. I would axe Aquaman, but given his appearance in this season, I would say its possible the actor would want to do it.
I wouldnt do it without Hartley/Green Arrow.

This total exclusivisity has got to come to an end. The comic book companies have gotta start having some discretion in using characters in more than one mass media venue. WB, despite the economy, you still have gigatons of money. Pay off the Shusters, pay off the Siegels, pay off whoever the f*** has these imagined rights to Blue Beetle from a radio show most fans have never even heard of. Then tell all future interested parties :
*Hey, guys? We'd love for you to make that Robin project, but get this. If we want, we can feature a revival of the Teen Titans cartoon, and have both Robin and Nightwing on any time, and have Batman do scads of cameos with every last villain. We can do 'The Judas Contract' in serious mode at the same time. We can do a Carrie Kelly series on Fox, a Jason Todd HBO adult/mature series where he out punishes Frank Castle, and if somebody suggests Casey Kasem do a cartoon where Shaggy, Bumblebee and his Robin team-up, kewl! You want to be unique? Then do so by making your product good. Because no longer will your kinda-sorta option be a chain on a good idea.*
I could see that if it were a cable show or some gritty mini-series being done by Nolan. However, the fact that it would be on CW and looking at their track record with "Smallville" I think it would have been highly unlikely.

I dunno, I think the only one who really needs to be cast is Ritchson. Gallner is a decent enough actor (He was good on Veronica Mars.) and has a recognizable face. And Young and Kalanj both did a good enough job. Then there's Phil Morris who is just 100% awesome. I also don't see why they couldn't also just bring Vandervoort back and just have her be Power Girl.
If Hartly is the headliner, maybe they could add Speedy to the mix in the pilot. I think there's enough to work with and enough fan support here that, if someone wanted to, they could at least "circumvent" the embargo.
It really is the best option if CW wants to exist post Smallville.

We dodged a f**king bullet here. Enough of these before they were superhero shows. I think we learnt our lession with Smallville (or as I call it in my house: the show that's only ever watchable twice a year... what? Lana's coming back? F**k it!).
One assumes Warners would like something teen-angsty to replace Smallville - which was originally envisioned as a sort of Buffy meets Dawson's Creek.
Following that logic, what's needed is the next iteration - Smallville meets Lost maybe. In which case the Wonder Woman mythos is the place to go for sure.
A group of scientists (complete with family so there can be some teenagers of course) have been sent on expedition to investigate a strange island that seems to exist in a dimensional rift. They settle on the far side of the island from the Amazons' settlement, which would have to be seriously re-envisioned from a classical city for budget reasons. Evil corporate guys are funding the expedition, because there's energy or something to be had from the dimensional rift, and a couple of them are in the group that settles on the island. Mysterious adventures ensue as scientists encounter Amazons, at first fleetingly, and then more fully as time wears on, including the uber-hot Princess Diana (undergoing a coming of age as she discovers her special talents which set her apart from her Amazon sisters) and who strikes up a forbidden and angst-ridden romance with the son of one of the scientists. The boy's mom and/ or dad is of course secretly one of the evil corporate thugs, and once s/he learns of the Amazons amazing powers and magical objects wants to exploit them, and Hippolyta wants to kill all the interlopers, wage war on Man's World in later seasons, blah, blah...
Tropical setting allows for plenty of skin. Meeting of two worlds allows for extended angst. Dimensional rift allows for both on-island bottle shows, and back-in-the-real-world interaction. No Gods though, just mythology to explain mysterious Amazonian magic.

Eh, I don't know. It's really just a variation on Robinson Crusoe, which of course Lost is too. But I've heard a pitch should have that "it's this popular thing meets this popular thing" zing. As if this was in any way an actual pitch rather than a bunch of geeks letting their imaginations run wild for kicks...
You forgot to point out that although the writers would love to feature Mr Spock, they're not allowed to do so, in case he contradicts the big screen version of him as seen in JJ Abrams' movie. Spock only belongs on the big screen, apparently.

Aragorn you also forgot that part where Kirk is destined for greatness and feels like he doesn't fit in at Starfleet academy.
Nevertheless he'll stay in the academy for 8 seasons and Kirk will visit the Enterprise from time to time and eventually work there.
Thank the comic book gods that this isn't even going to be filmed! I nearly choked on the sandwhich I was eating when I first read the blurb about Graysons and thought this will truly be awful. I don't mind the Smallville formula trained on other heroes but what they proposed for Grayson was a joke. Aquaman was a lot better and I would have loved to seen that realized.
