Meanwhile, I'm thrilled my local comic shop was finally able to get me the alternate art cover for IDW's "Manifest Destiny" comic mini-series! They only received two copies in their allocation of regular #1 issues. (There is also a Klingon language version.)

While nothing to do with the storyline of the four-issue arc, the Bad Robot characters feature in mock-ups of the iconic movie posters for ST:TMP, ST II, ST III and ST IV across the four parts! So cool, although some fans were screaming "Sacrilege".

My Trek haul over the last two weeks! IDW's "New Visions: Of Woman Born" (plus a cool TAS cameo in the backup story!), and the latest issues of "Manifest Destiny" and "Legacy of Spock" comics. Also "Starfleet Logbook" (a puzzle and craft diary), "What would Captain Kirk do?" (ponderings of Kirk and lots of pics) and the "Elusive Salvation" novel (by Dayton Ward).

Are you able to comment further on this one? Is it generally a worthwhile purchase? It sounds like it might cover ground we've seen many times before... does it offer anything new or interesting?

I got the Phasers to Stun book by Marcus Berkmann . I thought it was pretty well written with lots of good jokes and a nice tone. It still had some new nuggets of information or anecdotes to me. It puts most emphasis on TOS , the films and TNG. It reads more like having a chat in a pub with another witty ST fan than an encyclopaedia type book. It would be very good as first book . for someone wanting to find out more about ST . I personally was a big fan of TOS and Films 2,3,4 but hardly know the other ST series. So it served well as a humorous ,but respectful, look at my favourites and an intro to the other incarnations.

The ST II and ST III movie covers are alternate collectible covers for the IDW "Manifest Destiny" mini-series, with the Bad Robot cast in homage to the Bob Peak originals. Issue #1 had TMP (shown higher in thread). Issue #4 will feature ST IV.

I took advantage of the month Trek e-book sale and picked up the second and third IKS Gorkon books. After that I decided to fill in my gaps in the series, and picked up both The Brave and The Bold books and Klingon Empire: A Burning House.

Just arrived Down Under! National Geographic's hardcover "Guide to our Universe"; plus Titan's trade omnibus of "Star Trek Magazine" article reprints "The Movies 1" features the two Bad Robot films, plus TMP, ST II and Dr Gillian Taylor.

Recent Amazon deliveries included Star Trek The Official Guide to Our Universe: The True Science Behind the Starship Voyages, The Star Trek Book, Force and Motion, Star Trek Mad Libs, The Ultimate Star Trek and Philosophy: The Search for Socrates, and What Would Captain Kirk Do? I bought Trekonomics as an ebook to save a few bucks and let myself continue to gradually shift away from being a completist. There's a few more books on order that'll show up in the next couple of weeks.
