I finally finished reading through this thread

(in three sittings); do I get an award?!
I promised myself I wouldn't post here but I'm just going to add my 2 cents.
I own and have read each and every Star Trek fiction book (one exception; I haven't gotten around to reading the DS9 and Voyager Starfleet Academy series yet). I have my own likes/dislikes with each series in both filmed and written forms, but none bad enough to drop them completely although the
Voyager: Homecoming and
Spirit Walk duologies came quite close; I'm sure if I looked at myself in a mirror while reading them I would have seen something like this -->

or this -->

; I don't see the need to go into detail about what I disliked, they've been mentioned by others in this thread. I did however enjoy the
String Theory trilogy (it was a slow start though) after going into it with meager expectations so I look forward to reading what Kirsten Beyer does to move the series forward.
If I never see the words 'annihilated' or 'assassinated' applied to Janeway again I'll be happy.
Now I'm off to brew a pot of tea and tackle the "Carrot" thread. Wish me luck!
