Late to the party, but loving the TOS Blu Rays

Hey all - its been a long time since I've been here (used to be Man named Gorn), and while I did buy the TOS season sets on Blu Ray when they first hit, I haven't watched them until this weekend.

WOW!

I watched about ten over all three seasons - must say, love the new effects for the most part, but am glad the original shots included. They did a very nice job on the restoration and updated music. I appreciate how the creators of the Blu restoration project stayed very true to the original direction/vision of each ep and it shows. Of course, I had to watch Amok Time, Doomsday Machine, Tholian Web, Mirror, Mirror, and Let This Be Your Last Battlefield in their entirety, to name but a few.

Considering TNG on Blu, but don't know yet. Hated the Rick Berman era pretty completely

Hey as a lover of HDTV, the TOS Blurays are the cream of my disk collection..

Gotta say I agree. I remember when they sold the original series on dvd 2 eps at a time. seems like the dark ages compared to what we have now. Really quite awesome.

What do you mean about "updated music"?

Doug

I understand they recorded it again from scratch. The main theme anyway.

Exactly, same size orchestra, and they got a new lady to record an updated, though near pitch identical version - they then put the Shat voiceovers on top of that. In the making of on season 1, they talk about and show some of it. I had no idea myself. They don't say why they did it, but I've guessed it was for the 7.1 mix
