The only thing Jay ever did that I liked was Jaywalking, but that probably had more to do with the idiotic people he was talking to than anything he did.

I will say that he IS pretty fascinating in magazine interviews, or when talking about his cars and their histories. And I like his down to earth attitude.

But as a talk show host? Ugh. No thanks.

I have never been able to stand Letterman's sense of humor. He seems like he's targeting really old people, and that's just not me.
I thought that it was Leno that tries to appeal to older people.
Letterman cracks me up and I'm not old.

Yeah, I used to like Leno, too, but this whole thing has soured me on Jay.

Of those 3, I'd rank them...
1. Conan O'Brien
2. Jay Leno
3. David Letterman

Although, at this particular moment, I'd take Craig Ferguson over all of them!

Actually, I'm usually flipping back and forth between Rachel Maddow and Anderson Cooper at that time in the evening.

Yeah. Very often at that time of night I'll be flipping between reruns of The Simpsons & Law & Order: SVU. (How's that for contrast?)

And let's face it, [Conan O'Brien has] been on fire since the word came down NBC was getting ready to shaft him.

I think Conan O'Brien is always at his best under adversity, whether it's this impending cancellation or back when he had to make up all of his own material without any writers during the WGA strike back in 2008. In some ways, that's why I feel that the success of being handed The Tonight Show doesn't really suit him. He, like Craig Ferguson, is best while he's the underdog.

Speaking of which, I hope *this* late night rivalry ends up with with a brutal three way martial arts battle between Conan and Leno and the Head of NBC.

Coco fo sho-sho.

:)

I have to say, Conan getting his own show on Fox to rival Leno and Letterman out of this is the best possible outcome. Hopefully the competition would make all three up the quality of their game.

You think Letterman would let Conan come to the Late Show to promote it before the start, just as a little "fuck you" to Leno...

FOX trends towards a hipper crowd, so I think they would let CONAN be conan..which would help beat those old geezers (LENO LETTERMAN)...

I agree that Fox has had such bad luck trying to do a late night show *cough*Chevy*cough* that they'd probably be more or less fine with whatever Conan wanted, in order to screw the fogeys. And an appearance on Letterman would be fantastic. :rommie:

In a related story, reports indicate this whole affair has raised Leno and CoCo's ratings over the past four days...

Conan, although I admit I've enjoyed Jay Leno on more occasions than I'd care to admit.

Letterman is positively geriatric. Leno's only three years younger, but at least he's an energetic host.

And, if I really had a choice, I'd go with John Stewart, although if it means he can't tackle politics anymore, I hope he stays away from late night on the networks.

I'm watching Leno's show for the first time tonight.

A guy doing squats on an exercise ball? Really? That's how he brings it?

I couldn't vote because I wouldn't be watching anything at midnight. Lol I teach very young children for ten hours a day, so I'm out and down for the count by 10pm! :)
