Last movie you saw?

Watched “Don’t Look Up” on Netflix last night. Dark comedy that at times was a little too spot on with our country and current political and social issues/media. Top notch cast. 7/10

We watched The War Below on New Years Eve, a movie about the sappers in WWI. It was pretty good, of a touch show in places. Naturally my husband and I, both total nerds, have now been reading up about sappers the past two days.

That was a great movie. I liked that Leonardo DiCaprio was playing a more laid back role for once that wasn't all focused on him. Loved the twist at the end!

Watched the original, 1953 War of the Worlds, and for a movie made almost 60 years ago, it holds up remarkably well. I was actually pretty impressed that Sylvia van Buren actually had a Masters degree, and taught at a college, even if it was just library sciences. That felt pretty progressive for 1953, although she did end up as the hysterical woman that had the be saved by Forrester any time the Martians show up.

Stir Crazy.

If only there were video of Erland van Lidth available online such as behind the scenes footage of him on film sets or from his academic and singing years. He didn't like shaving his head for movie roles because of how it made him look and I can see why. With hair he looks totally different and was such an interesting person it's very sad he died so young at 34.

Don't look up. End of World thing by a comet... Except media doesn't care mmm well the world itself doesn't care till they look up. Satire like "network" movie

Spiderman No Way home - one of the best MCU movies ever and on its own also a damn good movie even if you have never seen any of the Spiderman movies ( it easy enough to understand)

Last night Mrs.Q2 & I watched Tender Bar over on AmazonPrime. Decent movie, good but not great. 7/10

Just finished The Eternals. It was a little convoluted, even for a Marvel movie. This one didn't really click for me, although one thing that surprised me is that I liked Angelina Jolie better in this than almost anything else I've seen her in.

Last movie I saw? .... does 2/3 of The Eternals count? Dozed off for a while during the movie* ...

*Been working 10 hr shifts all week. Get me in a chair for too long and it's sleepy time... *

Watched Cosmos last night. The first act of A for Andromeda episode one stretched into a feature film. And, despite that slightly glib summary, I really enjoyed it. Cast of 3 (with some other voice in phones), claustrophobic and intimate but epic all at the same time. Really good.

And while I'm here, fellow film fans, The 355 (which I haven't seen) is currently topping the US box office for films released in 2022 with a whopping $5.8M. I don't think it will be there by the end of the year, but I have made some predictions about what I think will be there in the Box office predictor game thread. I'd be delighted if you'd join me.
