"Godzilla 2000: Millennium", the first of the Millennium-series Godzilla movies. And one that never quite seems to find its footing. I may have to give the American theatrical version a try one of these days, as I've heard that the edits made it move along much better.

"Godzilla vs. Megaguirus", much better and way more fun. Lots of actual physical action between the monsters, as opposed to the ray attack overkill of the later Heisei series.

"Airplane!", and "Airplane II: The Sequel". Been a while, so I had to treat myself to some of those silly evergreen gags again.

And, finally, the MST3K version of "Space Mutiny", a very cheap movie I had read an article about almost a decade ago. It really is as bad as the article said.

North By North-West: For years I had wondered what that title meant... Turns out the best explanation (and not the only one) is that those are nonsensical words inspired by Hamlet's "I am but mad north-north-west. When the wind is southerly, I know a hawk from a handsaw." which are meant to express a certain amount of confusion.

So I was ironically trying to make sense of words illustrating nonsense and confusion. While the French title of that movie is clear as a bell.

It's a destination on an airline. You're thinking too hard about it.

Meanwhile, my last movie was THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER.

Superman returns is on tv right now (based on the acting Superman should have stayed away)

Just saw The Peanut Butter Falcon. If The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, O, Brother, Where Art Thou and Ready to Rumble had a love child, this would be it.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Being a comics geek of long standing, I loved the use of the alternate-universe characters as well as the whole "what does it mean to be a hero" vibe.

Yesterday I watched my DVD of Shazam for the second time. Not a great movie, but a pleasant enough way to spend two hours.

I saw the movie this morning, a stupid mistake that they didn't use Cavill in the cameo

The Martian. Been wanting to see it for years, and finally got the opportunity this weekend. Rather enjoyed it!

Alita. It had its moments and I didn’t bemoan the loss of two hours and whatever I paid to rent it. But I hope Cameron knew what he was doing when he passed it on to Rodriguez so that he could concentrate on the Avatar franchise,

"Kingsman: The Golden Circle", waited too long to watch this delight. I should learn not to let reviews dissuade me from watching a movie.

"Monstrum", bought it blind because I really enjoyed Netflix's "Kingdom" series, and this is another Korean period piece about Civil War with a supernatural horror element. While it's not nearly as good as "Kingdom", I still liked it and don't regret the 5 Euros I spent on the DVD.

"District 9", while not a first-time viewing, I still finally watched the DVD from the Neil Blomkamp box set I bought at Comic Con Germany in July of last year. I'd forgotten how good it was, and now I'm really disappointed at him dropping out of the next RoboCop movie.

Went to see IT: Chapter Two in IMAX at the AMC Tyler earlier tonight.

Different from the book in several ways, including the ending, but it has the best Stephen King cameo of his movie & television career.

Also just saw IT: Chapter Two. I'd give it about a C- but have to agree with od0_ital about King's cameo.

The Death of Superman then follow up with The Supermen. I am going to be getting The Justice League vs. The Fatal 5.

"Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters all-out Attack", my personal favorite of the Millennium series Godzilla films.

"Pacific Rim: Uprising", second time watching after the first watch in a theater. It is noticably a writer's movie, as the story is actually better than in the first one, but everything else (except maybe the details of the CGI) is way worse.

    "SHAZAM!", still really good fun.
